Well, it;'s definitely the way of the past. This has been done since at
least the 1920s on boats cars, trains an even other airplanes and airships.
One guy (Willy Coppens) even landed on an observation balloon during WW1.

I've seen this done in person. There is a group of 3 guys called the
Alabama Boys who do a Grandpa-Father-Son act at airshows wherein the
"Father" lands a J-3 Cub on top a moving truck. It is impressive to
say the least.
