View Full Version : Cindy McCain Pilot?
Larry Dighera

Last night on The Tonight Show, Cindy McCain mentioned that she would
be doing a lot of flying as part of husband John McCain's 1982
Congressional campaign, so she attended flight ground school in an
attempt to overcome her fear of flying. She said she then received
flight training, and earned her private certificate. However, a
search of the FAA's airmans database does not find her among the
airmen listed there.
The only information I was able to find about Mrs. McCain's piloting
via Google was this cite:
http://www.usatoday.com/news/politics/election2008/2008-04-14-cindy-mccain_N.htm
An adventurous one, as well. Cindy McCain used to be a pilot,
loves to drive race cars (her company distributes Budweiser,
NASCAR's official beer until this year) and took a weekend trip to
....
Does anyone have any additional information about here piloting?

A fellow on the Bonanza list flys out of Sedona. According to him,
Cindy is indeed a pilot. She owns some sort of a business jet, but
I'm unsure if she flys it. From your post it sounds like she does.
Certainly seems at odds with John's stance on general aviation, no?

If I recall correctly, on Leno's program she indicated that she was
piloting small aircraft. I took that to mean four to six seat

I'm not aware of candidate's stance. I suppose, if one considers that
he refused AOPA president Phil Boyer's appoint to the federal
Management Advisory Committee that he heads, it's not to difficult to
see he's not a GA advocate.
His attitude is apparent in this hearing transcript:

I don't know who's pegging who.
But I do know something about creeping fees.
Remember that Alternative Minimum Tax, that was only for the rich? I
nearly got hit by that, and by no means am I rich! (Or I'd have the
little airplane!) the AMT nearly bit me because I was putting so much
in 401k and Roth accounts, which I have to do since I have no other
retirement sources.
I have no doubt at all that what might be just for "corporate fat
cats" would soon include fat cat owners of C152s. All airplane owners
are rich, remember?
To me, the fuel tax is a very workable answer. You can charge it to
the little Cessnas and the big jets as well. It doesn't require any
additional overhead for accounting. The only issue there would be
those who are using autogas. But hey, nothing's perfect.

I won't vote for McCain simply because he has that b!tch Carly "no
American has a right to a job" Fiorini stumping for him. She gutted
HP and sent 1000's of engineering jobs to Asia while laying off the
very people who had helped build up HP so that it could even become a
"Multinational" company. I also don't like McCain's style or his
stance on a number of issues.
Can't say I'll vote Democrat either. They also suck the big one.
Look how bad our Democrat dominated Congress has been lately. Hey,
Rome is burning, but we can't have baseball players using steroids, so
lets make that our priority!
I think I may have to vote Libertarian or maybe Communist this year as
a "none of the above" vote...

Oh, hell! Not Carly the Destroyer! She'll poison his freakin'
campaign. Gave a commencement address at Oregon State University and
said she had something in common with the graduates, which was that she
was looking for a job.
She of course didn't mention that she practically destroyed HP (I was a
contractor there) and its business reputation in the process. But,
hell, they paid her to do it I guess. Hopefully McCain's not paying her
to destroy his campaign.

Aw, c'mon, guys. On the one side you have a choice: a witch who is a
lawyer who is also married to a lawyer, or a lawyer who is married to a
witch who is also a lawyer.
On the other side you have a true American war hero who is married to a
woman with a huge chest who owns a beer distributorship, drives race
cars and flies airplanes.
Is there really any contest here? :-)

Well my needs include putting the emergency brakes on outrageous pork
spending and having fewer lawyers control the government of the people.
I have not found McCain to be a "Christian crusader," in the least, but
I would consider him a war hero who has spent his life serving his
country in many ways.
If you are anti-Christian or have religious tolerance issues to satisfy,

Autofuel includes 18.4c federal tax for the highway fund. Considering
FAA funding is partially coming from the general fund, I would say
autofuel pilots are paying their fare share of fuel tax.

So you have no qualms about the three trillion dollar cost of the Iraq

pork-barrel spending that offends you? Interesting priorities.

Doesn't McCain support continuing the current Christian crusade in
Iraq? Are you aware of non-competitive bidder Blackwater's Eric
Prince's affiliation with the crusaders? Bush implied that he
consulted his God when deciding to take our nation to war with Iraq.

tricks, audacious hubris, blind arrogance and outright dishonesty.
Will you be voting for McCain?
But, what I'd really like to know is if there is one scrap of

I didn't provide anything that indicated "no qualms" about the price of
anything. Outrageous gas pricces? Try living in many other places in the
world. I have. There are a lot of politicians in the USA who feel that we
should have higher taxes on fuel and make it more expensive. I don't feel
that this is the proper venue to discuss Iraq in detail, however I note that
McCain's vote to authorize the Iraq war are identical to Clinton. The other
candidate was not a federal politician at the time, however he is the only
major candidate to not want lower fuel taxes, if that's what interests you.
By the way you somehow linked high gas prices to McCain, as opposed to anyone
else, but of course you couldn't provide anything to support this assertion.

Karl Rove is a traitor? Cite? Can you show the criminal activity charges or
are you just postulating? Relevance to discussion?
How about Obama's "God Damn America" pastor who provided his guidance? Are
you going to cherry pick certain people that you don't like, or will you
cover true traitors, such as Mark Rich, who was actually convicted of massive
tax fraud, the largest tax cheat in America's history. He was pardoned by
his friend Clinton.

Please study history and learn what a "crusade" is. Overthrowing dictators
who use rape rooms for political power, lob ears off their citizens, and
build ornate palaces while their citizens live in fear is not a "crusade."

So what? Bill Clinton implied that he consulted his God/religious leaders as
well. He even sought the council of "Reverend Jesse Jackson" for being
caught cheating on his wife. (Ironically, around the same time Mr. Jackson
was fathering an illegimate child and using a tax exempt organization's funds
to pay off the mother). Do you want to discuss Obama's religious views and
his pastor?

Interesting concept. Well, by your reasoning American's went to jail for
burglarizing headquarters too. Does that mean that you adamantly oppose
Americans? People of various political parties have violated laws throughout
the nation's history, does that mean that you are opposed to all parties, or
is your memory and history selective to your prejudices?

Who I may vote for is a private matter between me and the ballot box. If you
want to explain who you are voting for, feel free. It doesn't really matter
to me, but I notice that your arguments, supplanted by random irrelevant
anecdotes, are extremely superficial.

I'll take that as a 'yes.'
If Cindy McCain is a pilot, as you imply you are, even if she
opted-out, she should have a record in the airmans database it would
seem.

Okay. Thank you for the information. It seems that those who opt-out
do not have a public record in the database.

Larry, Larry, Larry. You really think that Obama's windfall profit tax
on the oil companies is going to reduce the cost of gas? Let's see:
raise taxes on oil, therefore the cost of gas is going to go down. What
are you smoking? But then, Hillary thought it a good idea, so it must
be so. Too dependent on foreign oil? Why, tax the domestic oil. There's
a good idea. We use too much oil and gas? Why, rant about the price of
gas, as if making it cheaper would make us use less. Want us less
dependent on foreign oil? Make it impossible to drill our own.
Not that McCain's gas tax holiday would actually accomplish anything.
I have yet to see a politician propose an energy policy that is not
filled with contradictions like those. And these people want to be
president?!?
Now, what happened in Vietnam and Cambodia after the Democrats declared
us the losers and went home is instructive. Several million people were
killed. I suppose that wouldn't bother you in Iraq. We have come a long
ways from Kennedy's ŌLet every nation know, whether it wishes us well
or ill, that we shall pay any price, bear any burden, meet any
hardship, support any friend, oppose any foe, in order to assure the
survival and the success of liberty.Ó Now the Democrats think any price
is to high for liberty. So much for Kennedy, eh?

Poor Larry. He has no one he can support these days. Both of the

the Christian vote. Sort of the Christian Right vs. the Christian

That's fed funny money. The money comes from the Aviation Trust Fund,
but has to be funneled and approved through the general fund. IOW It's
aviation money, from aviation, earmarked for aviation, but has to be
approved as if it were the general fund (read public) paying it. This
gives the feds more control over what at first appears to actually
come from the general fund even when it doesn't. So they are
currently using it to argue for "user funds" when they have a working
system that could continue to be self supporting. What should be very
straight forward is very convoluted.

Below are some other "qualification" his competitors lack

News clip from the January 17, 1995, Arizona Republic:
"About 300 guests turned out Saturday night to celebrate the 90th
birthday of Joseph 'Joe Bananas' Bonanno, retired boss of New
York's Bonanno crime family. He retired to Tucson in 1968. . .
John McCain, R-Ariz., and Gov. Fife Symington (later also
convicted of fraud) sent their regards by telegram."

After McCain's election to the House in 1982, he and his family
made at least nine trips at Keating's expense, three of which were
to Keating's Bahamas retreat. McCain did not disclose the trips
(as he was required to under House rules) until the scandal broke
in 1989. At that point, he paid Keating $13,433 for the flights.
And in April 1986, one year before the meeting with the
regulators, McCain's wife, Cindy, and her father invested $359,100
in a Keating strip mall.

The last I heard from Tarver was when he sent me an invitation to a
Yahoo!Group he'd started. That was 2003/4 or so.
How did he come to such a fate?
And what happened to the other prominent ada kook regular? I can't
remember his name now, but he was hilarious. (Not Graham, but the one
who had that weird, deadpan writing style.)

Uh huh. From your cite, "The Ethics Committee concluded that Glenn's and
McCain's involvement in the scheme was minimal."
"Bennett, who was the special investigator during the Keating Five scandal
that The Times revisited in the article, said that he fully investigated
McCain back then and suggested to the Senate Ethics Committee to not pursue
charges against McCain because of "no evidence against him." Bennett was
coincidentally on Hannity and Colmes the night the story broke to talk
about his autobiography. On the show, he said that he felt the Committee
pursued charges against McCain because, without him, the case would have
been entirely against Democrats.
But since are known for your balanced views, Larry, you were just about to
post about Hillary Clinton's top campaign contributor, felon Norman Hsu,

I get hit for it even though I'm 100% normally taxed on withholding.

senate colleague as a "dangerous" hothead, who is married to a "c*nt",

The only George I remember is Dr. George, and he sure wasn't a loon.

No, not him. I canīt remember his last name but Georgee was a bit like
maxwell, but further along the bunyip trail. He was the one with the
Labrador named hillary he said he used to screw? And he thought
airplanes were made from parts of old cars? You know, a recirculating

stuff.

Holy cow. Where did you get that nonsense. The so called "Trust Fund"
is called that because it is set apart from general appropriations.
The money in the trust fund comes almost all from commercial ticket
taxes, and General Fund (i.e. general taxpayer) support. GA pays less
than 3% of the annual revenue into the trust fund, and is arguably
(with certain agriculture) the most subsidized industry in the
nation.
You really got to not rely on what nonsense Boyer puts out. Its all
nonsense spin, and outright lies when it comes to funding.
