View Full Version : My Airplane Is No Longer Available!!

Since all I get now is flakes that don't want to even split 1/2 the fuel on
a flight together and do not want to help with General Maint when using MY
plane for their solo personal use and leave the tanks near empty when they
park it I regret to inform all that the ride share in my plane is no longer
available to anyone.
Thanks to the ones that actually had paid their way.... but sorry some/most
of you that i have shared with have become flakes on my dollar it's over as
of now!!!
All I asked was $10 an hour if solo to help cover oil/filter and up keep, +
copy of your valid rental insurance, top the tanks when your done, & no
student training, if your riding along 1/2 gas... The Free/Cheap ride is
Over! You wanna fly GO RENT! at $60.00 or more an hr + Fuel Surcharge..

Wow,... sounds like you may be the flake by telling the "usenet world"
instead of going to the individuals directly. And why would you deny access
to those that have treated you fairly?

Yeah, me too.
I can't imagine a self declared legend like the Buttlipp not being current
at everything.

Fairly typical, unfortunately. When a few guys form a club
or partnership in an airplane, they need to sit down first and write
up some stiff bylaws, make them into a contract, and each sign the
thing. Too many partnerships (and owner/borrower groups) have exploded
in fury after the various, normal abuses surface.
A club needs to make some sort of arrangement whereby each
member in turn is responsible for the airplane a week at a time.
During that week that member has the use of the airplane but also has
to clean and service it. If any other member wants to use it he must
call the guy on duty for that week. The bylaws will have a set of
weather minima, a requirement that all regulations be observed (to
protect both the airplane and the other partners, not just the pilot
flying), and some penalties for the rebels, up to and including
expulsion from the club. I have seen clubs break down because one guy
leaves the airplane dirty and the tanks empty, another will tell his
friends that it's "his" airplane, a third will do stupid things with
it, and one conscientious member will fix and clean and quietly look
after everything until he gets fed up and goes and buys his own. His
departure, of course, will mean a lot of work for the remainder and
they'll start squabbling about who does what until the whole thing
breaks up. Sad.

Lemme know when it's flyable. I wouldn't want to end up with the bill.

A Few of the flakes are readers of usenet also. I don't want to deal with it
anymore thats why I am denying them all I may call and invite thats about
it. They call me and ask it's a big NO!

I can see how it would appear that way, to someone who imagines EVERYTHING.

A substantial security deposit from each member might help foster more
responsibility among the members/users.

Yep. Not topping off the tanks before letting the plane sit is
particularly uncool. (Even if somebody else -doesn't- have to buy your
fuel.) Nothing says "thanks" like condensation in the fuel tanks.
What a drag.
Hey, Steven, have you found a twin yet?
