A big boom over Washington D.C.around 9:30-10:00PM EDT
tonight (Friday, June 20) must have been the sonic variety.
Sonic booms over Washington are rare -- like never -- hence
worth remarking on, hence this posting.

Well it could not be the sound of GWB getting a clue.

Oh, don't be so naïve. He, and the RNC, have a clue alright. They
simply have no regard for our nation's public image, the environment,
or the welfare of the people of our nation, or indeed their future nor
the plight of humanity in general, for he/they are the spokesman of
heartless entities, corporations. They know exactly what they want,
and how to get it. Their hubris is so unconscionable, that it's
incomprehensible to decent people. It is the American people who
don't have a clue of the RNC's audacious and inhumane agenda, IMO.

What parts exactly? Can you pin it down to a specific locale?
"Never"? No. They're rare but not unheard of (no pun intended). It may have been some
post-9/11 air defense exercises. That's assuming that it really was the sound of an
aircraft breaking the sound barrier.

Right, that one would have carried at least as far as points west of the Mississippi.

I'm located in Northeast D.C. about four miles east of the Capitol.
There wasn't anything in the Washington Post about this the next
day. However, the Post does mention when air defense exercies are
held.

They needed a "monkey-boy" and they got a good one.
They also assembled a crack team of criminals in the background.
It was masterful.
And it was pretty spooky how such a large number of americans chose fear over
sober reasoning.

Past tense- don't you mean choose? I notice that metal knives and
forks are only available to first class terrorists... cattle class
terrorists will have to make do with broken bottles. The next terror
threat is already well entrenched in the form of AGW...

A neighbor has told my wife that this was a _firecracker_.
Definitely not you grandfather's pyrotechnics, these days.
