On Saturday 6/21, Eric Rupp flew his DG300 from Hollister (Bay Area,
California) to the Mexican border near Mexicali, landing at Calexico,
over 400 miles from Hollister. This was a new record and an epic
flight which several of us were trying to achieve for many years.
Congratulations Eric, way to go!

(Now more eager than ever about his new glider)
How is 400 miles a record distance?
A new "Departing Hollister" Record?

Here is a satellite picture from that same day. Looks like one could
have kept going
south of the border and had a cloud street going maybe half way down
the length
of the Baja peninsula. Wonder if someone will try that flight some
day? Or has it
already been done?
