Mother do you think they will drop the bomb?
Mother do you think they will break my balls?

That's not even the right song.
"Did you see the frightened ones?
Did you hear the falling bombs?
Did you ever wonder why we had to run for shelter
when the promise of a brave new world unfurled beneath a clear blue
sky... Goodbye, blue sky..."
Beautiful song; excellent segment from the movie:

Pilots, however, are more likely to have a personal relationship with
the Learning to Fly video. I read somewhere where the pilot/controller
chatter is from Gilmour's flight lessons. Gilmour and Waters are both
magnificent lyricists:

"Into the distance, a ribbon of black
Stretched to the point of no turning back
A flight of fancy on a windswept field
Standing alone my senses reeled
A fatal attraction holding me fast, how
Can I escape this irresistible grasp?
Cant keep my eyes from the circling skies
Tongue-tied and twisted just an earth-bound misfit, i
Ice is forming on the tips of my wings
Unheeded warnings, I thought I thought of everything
No navigator to guide my way home
Unladened, empty and turned to stone
A soul in tension thats learning to fly
Condition grounded but determined to try
Cant keep my eyes from the circling skies
Tongue-tied and twisted just an earth-bound misfit, i
Friction lock - set.
Mixture - rich
Propellers - fully forward
Flaps - set - 10 degrees
Engine gauges and suction - check
Mixture set to maximum percent - recheck
Flight instruments...
Altimeters - check both
(garbled word) - on
Navigation lights - on
Strobes - on
(to tower): confirm 3-8-echo ready for departure
(tower): hello again, this is now 129.4
(to tower): 129.4. its to go.
(tower): you may commence your takeoff, winds over 10 knots.
(to tower): 3-8-echo
Easy on the brakes. take it easy. its gonna roll this time.
Just hand the power gradually, and it...
Above the planet on a wing and a prayer,
My grubby halo, a vapour trail in the empty air,
Across the clouds I see my shadow fly
Out of the corner of my watering eye
A dream unthreatened by the morning light
Could blow this soul right through the roof of the night
Theres no sensation to compare with this
Suspended animation, a state of bliss
Cant keep my eyes from the circling skies
Tongue-tied and twisted just an earth-bound misfit, i"

Then start a new thread Robert.
Everyone seems to be afraid to talk about aviation.

Always liked that song, however the video to the Foo Fighters Learning to
Fly is pretty funny. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BieVgyrfglQ

Yep and all the posts below are exactly why I am down to checking twice a
month. The Max and Bert show is getting VERY tiring, I just wish they would
STFU and grow up, but that is wishful thinking....

The best way to lower the signal to noise ratio (that everyone loves to
tout), is to post some aviation discussions. Quit responding to me and
Bertie (or anyone else that does) and enjoy yourself.
Don't let Buttlick and his ilk stop you from posting. Delete his messages
or create a filter.
