This image came from a friend who hasn't a clue where he got it from. Do any
of you folks recognise the image/aircraft and know of any background story ?
TIA

Could be. Wing root says Hawker, but the nose says Mig or Sukhoi (latter
more likely).

I think you've nailed it. It's a Hunter with the nose cone and
spent rounds bulges (Sabrinas) removed.
The gun ports and nose wheel are also identical to a Hunter.

Hunter! That's the one - I couldn't remember the name of it for the life of
me.

According to the Google Earth Community postings
its a Hawker Hunter on the airfield at North Luffenham UK
Painted and dressed to appear as a Mig, looking at Google Earth
coverage, it looks like the main runway has been cratered
and the whole field looks like its setup for assault training
there are several aircraft and positions.
looks like a Harrier and a F-4 as well.
Parking lot near the end of one runway appears to have
several old armour vehicles for placement out on the field

Some good pictures here, but he also calls it a mig..
misinformed...But atleast he knows not to mess with right
things...
RAF North Luffenham
also called "St. Georges Barrack" so it makes for a good goole search..

Thanx to all and John Szalay in particular for helping solve the 'mystery'
of the sad looking Hunter FGA.9 XG194
