For SSA members, we have posted the intermin financial statements
(year to date for 2008) for SSA Operations on the SSA website, www.ssa.org.

In summary, SSA is back to financial health thanks to a combination of
support from the members and outstanding financial cost control by
Chief Administrative Officer Denise Layton and the rest of the staff
in Hobbs. Not only are we showing a healthy operating surplus for the
year, but we have been able to pay off the loan from the SSA
Foundation more than two years earlier than projected. Again, the
financial support of the members through their voluntary contributions
to SSA has been crucial in this recovery.
I encourage SSA members to visit the website and catch up on the
financial news. Also, if you haven't read the many, many touching
tributes to Dick Johnson, you need to.
