As I said, if this is true, the road back will not be as easy as the
road in.

there is nothig unique about what is going on in iraq.
so there is no reason to think it won't happen in georgia.
people that don't want to be ruled won't be. is as simple as that.
those people like DSH and charles krauthammer who think we've won in iraq
are sadly mistaken

A few tech developments, loss of the Uk, some bad leadership keeping
their jobs. Change those & reduce US production ability; things favor
the bad guys more.

not very realistic or minor changes.
yeah sure, if the U.S.A had the production capacity of mexico and if the
germans had had a real navy with amphibious capacity and the landing craft
and russia not have designed better tanks and made more of them sure the
germans could have won
its a "and if cows could fly" type of changes.
it reminds me of an article i read in smithsonian years back
to prove that professor langley's first design could have flown some areo
engineers using computers and a wind tunnel tweaked the design
until it would have been airworthy and then proudly announced that it could
have been the first heavier than air flying machine.

Except they didn't.
Iraq is in a lot better shape than it was a couple years ago. By th
eend of the year or early next year, the non-Iraqi forces will
probably be doing less and facing les problems from terrorist stuff,
and possibly transitioning to a South Korea style presence (With Iran
in the part of North Korea.)
As for Iraq vs. Georgia, remember Iraq vilated a bunch off UN Security
Council resolutions, which led to the use of forces (And if they had
no WMDs, why did they play games when they could have opened the
doors, made the US look bad, and keep the regime going?) But they were
run by a dictatorship well known for brutality to people, including
their own, and had violated countless resolutions.
Even the Russians have not accused Georgia of violating any UN
resolutions. Nor, as a member of the security councli, do I recall
them ever introducing any resolutions relating to Georgia. Also
Georgia is run by a democratically elected government, and I was
unaware of any real complaints against them that were out there at the
international level.
With the Russians now talking up threats to Poland, it makes one
wonder.
