I was thinking of swithing my ISP to AT&T, but, I seem to remember somone saying that they don't allow for newsgroups. Is that true? If so, are there alternative methods of viewing the pics?

I've got ATT. The sorry cowardly *******s dropped everything (at least in
my region) that has "binaries" in the name.

You can thank the liberal dimoRat New Yawk asswipe lawyer Andrew Cuomo for
this nationwide ban experienced by a large number of NNTP users. With the
degenerate kiddy porn lovers occupying 0.08 percent of the postings, it was
a national emergency to screw millions of users rather than go after the
pervs.

I have used a premium Teranews account in years past. They are OK, but
don't carry the full number of newsgroups. I'm currently with NewsGuy.
Still formulating an opinion on them. At this time, I am happy with 'em
(but leaving myself some wiggle room for the future).

Thanks guys. It looks like what you are saying, is that any money I'd save
by switching to AT&T, would be spent on getting a subscription to another
additional service. Hardly seems worth it.

Tera News promise to carry all groups. If there is one you can't find then
email them and it will be added.

You are absolutely right.

But at last count there were at least 35,000 groups TN didn't carry. I'd
rather a premium service carry *all* available groups and let me be the one
who decides which ones I'd "carry."

I'm kinda thick about things like my money.

Its absolutely true, No alt.binaries groups can be accessed. This happened
early in July almost without notice. I am still with AT&T but use usenet
for my newsgroups....

I know, I use Earthlink. But, $40 for 1.5 mbps is a bit much, compared to AT&T at $25. I can get twice the speed, and still pay less than I do at Earthlink. Right now, the only advantage of Earthlink, that I can think of, IS the newsgroups. I know, we aren't talking big money here, but I think I can do better. Thanks to everyone for their suggestions. I will have to check into those options once I switch over.

Ron, one other thing to know and consider. ATT does not promote, and will
barely discuss what I've done...

Ask them about a "dry loop." You can get more bang for the buck for less
money (the region I'm in, the cost is much less). For those who read this
and want to change to a dry loop, let me know... I have some advice that
needs not be addressed here until you get serious about it.

I didn't know what it was until I pressed them on it. Some of the folks
herein may already know all about it. Basically, it is a single dedicated
line that will not support any "land line" phone access. That's good for
me. I don't need a house phone... I don't need the TV access they offer in
their packages... I have a cell phone with a different outfit. Don't need
any of that add-on crap.

Mr. Nice Guy,
Lee
