View Full Version : Here's an interesting article on how to forge headers
Alan Erskine[_3_]
August 17th 08, 08:59 AM
http://www.cynthiaarmistead.com/headers/headers.shtml
In particular, this part: "I know that some things can be forged, but
haven't a clue as to how to forge them--it isn't something most people ever
bother to learn, even if they are heavy internet users. Only net abusers and
those who want to stop them have to go to such lengths. "
I'll give you a scenario...
Someone starts posting on-topic for an extended period; might be a couple of
months. Then, they start posting things that are either off-topic or in a
quantity that is intended to disrupt a newsgroup, even if they say ahead of
time that they are going to do it.
Someone else (sometimes many regulars and lurkers) says "don't do it,
please", and that person (people) is then targetted by a couple of the OP's
friends, usually using forged header information in an attempt to hide their
real identity.
People have come into this group, stating that their particular method is
superior to that which the group has preferred for a long time. They have
claimed special knowledge of the subject, in this case newsreaders, but it's
recently happened with yEnc as well.

I'm sure that he cares, deeply.
I also notice that you _didn't_ say anything about dear Alan-me-lad and _his_
abuse and insults.
BTW, Alan-me-lad, have you sent my 'forged' headers to Newsguy yet?

Still whining that old song, off-key I might add.
To parrot MR. Heilan Laddie (Scotland Forever!),
it is part of NewsGuy's rules to prohibit
(read-cancel your friggin' account) any forging
of headers.
As Mr. Laddie is doing, I'm waiting for you to report
your suspicions to NewsGuy. I'll also be waiting for
your apology after they advise you that you're an idiot.
(crickets chirping over here too!)
While I wait, I'll let you know that even *I* feel
some pity for your ignorance and I'll offer more
sage advice to you.
"As our circle of knowledge expands, so does the
circumference of darkness surrounding it." (A. Einstein)
Rules of Engagement:
(1) Don't forget to fly the plane.
(2) The threat always changes.
(3) Stay calm.
(4) There will always be people who disagree with you.
(5) There will always be people who think differently.
(6) There will always be people who do things differently.
(7) Stay with the facts.
(8) Stay with the truth.
(9) Don't whine.
(10) Handle it.
Pay particular attention to #9

With the fingers tapping on the table and the crickets
chirping, I will point out to Einstein that which is so
obvious to the sentient, I failed to mention...
Did you think that my posts through NewsGuy are subject to
whatever arbitrary rule from some arbitrary news service you
so arbitrarily mention? Global who?
Have you been complaing to the wrong place?
Try NewsGuy.com, Einstein

Everybody deserves credit of doubt, until they start ranting and raving.
Or bragging about being so smart they can outwit killfilters and other
idiotic ways of wasting peoples time.
The Scottish child is also in my killfile. After reading for the umpteenth
time that everybody else has a crippled newsreader and that he doesn't care
about other peoples' opinions I had enough. I no longer care about his
opinions.

Yawn...
Hey Einstein, any luck with that "header forging" complaint?
I've given you as much guidance as possible without writing
the thing myself.
(my crickets are getting tired of chirping and waiting on you)
I'd be wryly happy to condescendingly explain what is inscensing
you and where you are laboring on a fool's errand.
Hermione,
I *could* tell you how to (PLEASE) kill-file me forever, everywhere
you go on NNTP.
Sadly tho', you're still only able to utilize that cripple-ware
called MSOE, which I avoid like the plague. In Xnews (free and
simpler to use and doesn't have the whole world writing viruses,
trojans and spyware to attack), I could tell you how to kill-file
me forever and where ever you go. MSOE most likely has a time
limit on kill-files.
The nice thing about kill-files is that you are actually kill-filing
yourself. Translation: It restricts YOU not ME. *I* don't have to
listen to the 99 percentile alan-irksome dopes and the peanut gallery's
whining! And when *I* want, I can *still* get to you whenever and
where ever *I* desire (like right now). :P
Hugs, kisses and sayonara (at last! ...thankee vurry mu')!
Mr. Nice Guy,
Lee

The only thing you've said here that has caught my attention was your
reference, in a previous post, to a "hissy fit". Why is a Scotsman speaking

Freak, is the operative word, here.
Do the rest of us a favor, that don't care if you torment Einstein, or
whoever, but would still rather you stay in our kill files.
Torment him with personal E-mails, instead of making the rest of us keep
killing your munged identities.
Please?

Lee thinks he is clever. Mabe he is, but then more like Dustin Hofman in
"Rain Man". In any case he is too thick to notice the subtle difference
between me, Alan Erskine and other posters. His replies go all over the
place but rarely to the person he intends.
