Is there a problem with posting on newsgroups at the moment? I haven't seen
any new posts on any NG since the 14 and 15/8.

Yeah mate if your in OZ and using Optus as I am, you will only get local
stuff at the moment, as I am. There is an outage at the moment. They said it
will be about 48 hours till is is back to normal. That was Saturday. Maybe
back on tomorrow, otherwise they gave me an address to send to if not

The news server for Optusnet isn't sending/receiving posts. The only posts
you can see at the moment are from other Optusnet members.

I'd suggest you lodge a support request with Optusnet, as I did today. The
more that complain the greater the attention the problem will get.

Thanks Stretch,

I'd noticed a handful of local posts (including my own), but nothing else.
I've called Optusnet twice now. The first time, they tried to tell me that
they didn't support newsgroups (what bull ****!) and the second time they
claimed there was nothing wrong (more BS).

This is the address Optus gave me. When you speak
to them idiots. The first question is do they know what a newsgroup is. Half
the time they'll have no bloody idea. I'm on what is called dsl1, which is
Optus piggybacking off Telstra. There is also dsl2 which is Optus direct.
Makes a big difference. One person doesn't know the other. A bit of a bull
system if you ask me. First guy I spoke to didn't know what a NG was either,
and I said put me through to someone else, and he said that there was an
outage, and it will take about 48 hours to get it back to normal. If it not
to send an email with the NG address and the problem. At least he knew what
I was talking about

Well, it's fixed now.

NNTP is just as much of a service as FTP or HTTP. Any ISP who thinks
otherwise clearly doesn't have a clue.
