View Full Version : Getting a little squeeze (riveting)

My new rivet squeezer arrived today from Aircraft Spruce and right on
time too.
Anyway with a new tool to play with and nothing to rivet, I squeezed
over a few pop rivets I had already installed. Holy crap Batman did
those rivets look great and they're tighter than ever. I used 3/16"
cupped dies on both sides and I have to say they're the best looking pop
rivet joints I've ever seen.
I can hardly wait to start setting solid rivets...

I've never heard of using a squeeze riveter to set pop rivets. Is
this normally done?

I don't know. I didn't have any solid rivets at the moment and I wanted
to play with my new toy. so I squeezed some pop rivets I had already
set. These weren't in any aircraft stuff so it wouldn't hurt if I
screwed them up. I have to say it sure made them look nice and they're
the tightest pop rivets I've ever seen...
