View Full Version : Flight task question

I am using XC soar on my PDA. So far all I've done is set the "task"
for Arlington, so the PDA is telling me what to do to get back to AWO
"safely".

Today I created a task, not really expecting to fly it but more to
see
how the waypoints/turnpoints were handled on the screen.

I set the first waypoint as AWO, 2 was Stimpson, 3 was Jordan, 4 was
Barker 5 was home to AWO.

The WX and clouds pretty much dictated a tow to Stimpson, where I
stayed most of the flight...........as a result, my waypoint window
listed AWO the whole flight.

Does this mean that in order for the task to have been initiated (I
have auto advance selected for the waypoints) that I needed to fly
BACK to AWO, then proceed to Stimpson as the 2 waypoint? If so, then
if I had selected Stimpson as my First waypoint, I would have seen
the
waypoint list advance as I rounded the Stimpson turnpoint. Since I
took a stretch to TO Stimpson, that proably would have resulted in a
penalty?

Geez............no wonder I fly for fun!

TIA,
Brad

Well, you told your PDA that AWO is your first turnpoint, and as long
as you
havn't made that turn (Start), XC-Soar will not advance to the next.
But if you want to skip a turnpoint you can always focus the waypoint-
infobox and
press "advance", or, if you you want to restart a task you can press
"back".
Advance and Back is usually Left-key and Right-key on most PDA's.
Hope this explains.

ah...............yes.................that is what I thought, but
wanted another XCSoar user to explain/confirm.
Much appreciated!
