View Full Version : Does SeeYou have a separate Validation DLL?

Folks,

I know I should post this to the SeeYou forums, but I'm having issues
resetting my password.

I'm looking for a SeeYou DLL in the prescribed IGC format for
validating the SeeYou G-Record. I already have the stand alone DOS
application from SeeYou; that's not what I need. I want the DLL that
can be launched from the Mark Ramsey validation shell application on
the IGC website.

Thanks,

Erik Mann

Eric - The validation DLL is logger-specific and supplied by the
logger
manufacturer. So, check the IGC web site or your logger-vendor's
site ?

If you mean can SeeYouMobile with GPS input produce a valid secure IGC
file, the answer is no. Only secure IGC recorders can do that. Even if
the GPS input is from an IGC secure recorder, the SeeYou file is not
secure, only the flight record from the recorder which must be downloaded
using the appropriate software, typically Connectme, free at -

http://www.naviter.si/products/connectme.php?Itemid=62

For most recorders (the exceptions being a few pre-Windows older ones) the
DLLs for download and verify to use with IGC shell are free download from
the FAI/IGC website

Should have clarified further. SeeYou supports downloading from non-
IGC-Approved loggers, specifically Garmin. In so doing, it creates
its own proprietary Security Record (G-Record). I want to see if
there is a DLL which would validate files downloaded under this
scenario.

The security record (G-record) is generated in the Recorder for
IGC-approved recorders.

Garmin does not create a G-record, so there is nothing to validate, so
there is no purpose in a Validation DLL.

Eric

Do you mean using SeeYou (the program on a PC) or using SeeYou Mobile
on a PDA with the Garmin as a GPS/NEMA source? in which case yes there
is a G record created. But since the Garmin+SeeYou Mobile combination
is not an IGC approved logger there is no IGC validation program, and
no point to having one. The only benefit AFAIK is those files are
useful for OLC.

No Tim. SeeYou (and G72Win) have their own proprietary hashing
algorithms which generate a G Record at the time of download. The
process for creating the G Records is NOT compliant with the IGC
private key encription methodology; however, they do prevent "casual"
modification of a file downloaded by either program.

So, again, back to the question, is anyone aware of a SeeYou Vali DLL?

This has nothing to do with the IGC or the sporting code. This
relates to another initiative.

Your question may not have anything to do with the IGC but the kind of
obvious answer (there is not one) does. The combination you are
talking about is not an IGC approved logger or intended to be
therefore unlikely anybody would create an IGC specific validation DLL
for it.

Actually, I believe you might be wrong there. There is a DLL to validate
Garmin files downloaded with G7toWin, so it could be feasible to have a
DLL for SeeYou (probably a different algorithm, so the G7toWin DLL will
not work). It's just a question of someone being prepared to put in the
effort.

None of which will make the files IGC approved of course.

Tim already answered... in fact others have created DLLs even for non-
approved loggers/downloads for the very reason that there are many
uses of IGC files outside of "official" IGC reasons. In fact, SeeYou
has a Vali routine which validates a G-Record it creates to IGC Spec,
so they obviously saw a need. The only issue is/was whether there is
a standalone DLL that doesn't have to run under the DOS shell. Since
G72Win does, I thought it might be possible that SeeYou would have
one. As usual on R.A.S., we got a lot of commentary which doesn't
answer the question :-)

As has been stated here before. We do have a vali-cu.exe DOS
validation routine which can be downloaded here:
http://www.naviter.si/download/other-tools/index.php?Itemid=27

At present we don't have a Windows DLL for that since there was no
need for it until now.

Please write to support at naviter dot com for help with resetting the
password, Eric.

Thanks.
