Here's a link to some great (beautiful) satellite views of many
regions of earth. They're high resolution -- but even better -- have
images archived back to 2003 or so!

Had a great cloud flight? Go look up that day and see it in up to 250
m resolution.
Planning some big flights? You can review past years and guess at the
timing/seaonality and frequency of the conditions that will get you
there. (Look at the central and southern California images for
6/21/08 -- good enough for a 444 sm flight from Hollister (Bay Area)
to Calexico on the Mexican border! Here:
