We lost a LOT of users when the legal eagles forced many ISP's to drop
usenet from their servers.. going take a while for those effected to
find new access..

Actually it is not the thought police, but the corporate morons that are
still stuck in 20th century entertainment corporate models. The idiots that
copyright everything to make a buck, only to find everybody moving on to the
next similar product.

I think you'll find that most of them are on the right side of the political
spectrum, in the US they would be called Republicans.

Not that this discussion has anything to do with aviation.

Your response tells all just how stupid you can be.

Are you this stupid all the time or is this just a transient thing?
Were you and Alan Einstein whelped from the same IQ litter?

Maybe you are just trolling. Congratulations for delurking me again.
I'm sure that there will be a number of people herein who will start
bitching at me, when it was *you* that will be the start of this latest
flame war, if one begins.

Pull your head out of your ass long enough to do a little research on the
subject (or are you researching your polyps?)

Clairbear is right on target, and you can't even find the sights.

*Democrat* NYAG Andrew Koo-mo (the *Democrat* Jesse Jackson's
pronunciation) with help from *Democrat* Up-chuck Shumer, were able to
frighten the ISPs (NATIONALLY) into dropping ANYTHING "binary" on NNTP.
Since most ISP's don't make a buck off usenet anyway, they were only too
happy to oblige. This started a domino effect. Now few, if any ISP's carry
usenet at all. This saves them the money in servers, routers and
maintenance while pointing to Koo-mo's threats of prosecution as the
reason.

Oh, the reason for the threats from Democrat Koo-mo? It's because all of
the posters on any binary group (which would include YOU and THIS GROUP)
of distribute kiddie porn. The problem was pervasive... at any given time,
an independent audit found a total of 0.08% of the TOTAL postings on usenet
could be deemed even close to being child porn (all states have varying
definitions of what constitutes CP).

Koo-mo, using the intellect no doubt taught at the Alan Einstein IQ
Institute, seemed not to have any complaint with the World Wide Web. Since
absolutely no kiddie porn is found on the WWW at all (sarcasm intended),
and since of course the REAL MONEY is on the sacred/cash cow called WWW,
seems Koo-mo didn't threaten anything to anybody. This linguine-spined
Democrat has effectively used his state power to control the usenet surfing
of the entire nation... YOU WERE SAYING SOMETHING ABOUT IT *NOT* BEING THE
THOUGHT POLICE?

Were you asleep for the past six months or purposefully obtuse?

If you had looked at anything more than this years pollitics you would've
known that the entertainment industry is one of the major forces behind the
drive against file sharing of any kind. And I don't mean the artists
(although some are in fact scared into statements that are pro-industry and
anti-internet), I mean the corporate bosses of recordlabels, institutions
like the RIAA, movie studios, software studios and the like. THEY are the
people that killed Napster and Kazaa, and are after services like Usenet,
Bittorrent and FTP servers.
Politicians are just the people that are lobbied (no, I will not say
'bought') into the legislation that is killing Usenet in the US and abroad.

Have you been hiding in a cave the past 10 years, or are you just in dire
need of attention?

Again: Not that this discussion has anything to do with aviation.
And you're plonked. Bye.

You are the one who started the discussion, based on
inaccurate information.

You're an uninformed noob.

You haven't been keeping up with much of anything, have you?

Cuomo is the DIRECT cause of binary groups being dumped,
not some indirect RIAA sniveling over the past ten years.

To blather otherwise is only to show your noob-ness.

Like a little yapping dog behind the fence, you state something
stupid, then hide behind your "fence" by plonking anyone who
challenges/disagrees with you. Anything posted as evidence then
to you becomes "a rant."

Here's *my* funny sig from an ABPA thread on 08/16/08:
Alan Erskine > says... "I've got an IQ of 151"
"I'm in the 99th percentile for my age group - that's the top 1 percent"
(nice math there, Einstein!) "I doubt very strongly that you know
anyone in my range of IQ" (Thankfully, NO!)

"Why should we wait for six months to download an image
that was posted yesterday?"
