My threadbare seat cushion needs it's cover replaced. Can anyone
recommend an appropriate fabric that will stand up to UV and still be
comfortable?

Or, "Sunbrella" type fabric. I'm not affiliated with them in any way,
but my family used the stuff for our outdoor furniture when I was
growing up in southern California. Its synthetic (won't rot), water-
resistant (not waterproof, but resistant to soaking up sweat and
such), and UV resistant. Commonly used on higher-end outdoor/pool
furniture and awnings (not the scratchy plastic stuff).

(there are alternative brands that may be cheaper, but I don't recall
them off-hand)

Dave:

Seattle Fabrics on Hwy 99 carries Sunbrella fabric. They also have
many other types that will work well. http://www.seattlefabrics.com/
