REQUEST: P-38 Gun Bay Photos/Drawings

A buddy of mine is building a giant scale RC model of a P-38, and is
looking for detail photos of the gun bays. Does anyone have any photos or
technical drawings?

Pete's making some good progress on the P_38. He is modifying a Ziroli set
of plans to make it hte night fighter version with the radar operator
jammed behind the pilot. The build is on the Wylie Warbirds site
http://www.wyliewarbirds.com/projects/gpp38/index.htm and shows the
complexity of one of these large kits. Pete's got a bad case of OCD ...
he's making a separate static display gun bay that is complete, based on
contributions of photos from this group, including making his own linked
ammo!!!

Ed, that's simply outstanding. I've always wanted to know what
happens when a watchmaker breeds with an accountant, certainly a new and
useful mutation.


I thought it was a fantastic 'what-if' that we briefly saw in a couple of
pics, a P-38 with a 1/8th drill bit in the nose. What nickname would
the IJN have given Richard Bong after a couple of kills with one of those.
