After being away from the groups for an extended period of time I have come
back to find Jay Honeck, as well as many other posters, are no longer
around. Anyone know why this and many of the other aviation groups seem so
dead???

A retarded asshole and wanna be dictator name Bertie the Buttlip, and his
small band of cronies has gone to great pains to make this group unlivable.
Jay being a very active and successful aviation enthusiast, became one of
Buttlipp's favorite targets. You know how miserable people often like to
spread it around, happy and successful people are often their favorite, but
certainly not only targets.

At any rate, if you intend to stick around, be prepared to kiss Bertie's ass
regularly, and over look his ****ing on any, and often every post he
chooses. You can search the archives for messages with the subject of
"Bertie's Stock Puppets and Supporters", and get some idea of who his "hay
boys" are, and the locals he has dupe in to believing he is a pilot. I spend
a little time farreting out the lamers a few month ago just for grins.

Best wishes, you can contact Jay at:

www.alexisparkinn.com or

to find out where he is posting these days. I think he has been sticking
with the moderated groups since Buttlip ran him off.

Funny you should ask! I found a pen with his Inn and numbers embossed
on it. He had been thru here and stopped for fuel. I have talked to
him a few times and asked how things were going. He is found over at
Pilots of America now. Said he got tired of the nonsense, name
calling, general decline of the quality of the NG. I feel the same way
and try to stay OT but at times its difficult.

Questions, Okie.

What is a "Stock Puppet? Is this some kind of new term you invented because
you never figured out what a 'sock puppet' was?

Why would anyone in their right mind want to search your old posts in the
first place, Maxie?

Try it on yourself, Maxie. Do you really think you are that hard to figure
out? You're nothing more than a wannabe that probably took a few lessons at
some point and when you tried to pass yourself off as a pilot in this NG,
you got your arse handed to you for your ignorance. You've never offered
anything of value to this NG other than entertainment as the village idiot,
and now you've simply been reduced to a cretin who tries to harrass anyone
who has called BS on you.

Why don't you tell the WHOLE story? Do you even know it, or are you just
throwing BS against the wall based on your ignorance?

Jay had gotten to the point to which he was treating this NG as his own
personal soap box. He developed an illusion that he was entitled to be king
of this NG and nobody could possibly disagree with him. A few people called
him on some of his rather pointless posts, so in protest he took down his
"rogues' gallery" or whatever he called it from his web site, which was a
place for some people to post aviation related pictures. It was his attempt
to try and "rally the troops" against his detractors. The result was even
some of his former supporters pointed out how lame and childish he had
become. The fact was, Jay's participation had been dropping off well before
any of the people he blamed had ever taken issue with his BS. In his last
ditch effort to pander to those he thought were his supporters, he promised
for days, if not weeks, that he was going to abandon the NG forever. He
sunk to a level of childishness that nobody could stand and when he got no
support he finally took his ball and went home. Good ridance.

But there were too many on the group that just would not ignore the
posts of Bertie, MX, etc. If no one would respond, they would not have
received their satisfaction. BTW, Jay was a great contributor to this
and other NGs. Too bad there are not more with that much enthusiasm in
aviation and his professional life.

yes, mostly one can only find anonymous idiots here.
Killfiling them helps, but this only brings up a handful postings
afterwards.

Many left.

BTW: if *serious* people need a real usenet access (not

Probably at least a few notches above being a groupie for what you just
described, Okie.

It is rather amusing that you've decided to show how truly pathetic you've
become by nymshifting to prove your groupie status. I like it. Don't
change.

Even if you don't want to use a killfile, the excuse is extremely pathetic.
If you don't want to read a response from someone, don't click on their
message. Why is that so hard to figure out? The only challenge you then
have is from the truly pathetic nymshifters like JJ and Maxie, but even then
it's not all that difficult as they generally pick an anonymous one, or in
Maxie's case whatever nonsense he dreamed up while picking his nose.

Yep, but some can not help responding, and quoting, and that brings up a
dilemma.

Do you kill-file an otherwise good, and normally on topic poster, and lose
the good posts he makes, or do you try and ignore the replies, and keep the
poster?

I used to do the later, but it seems lately that I have less patience and
end up dumping the poster and all of his posts.

It sure does not take long to read the posts from the newsgroups, daily.
Sigh.

I just can not get past the format of the purple pilots group. It is so
awkward, I just have a tough time enjoying the experience. Mostly, I don't
bother.

Will the troubles here ever stop? Doubtful, if people continue to feed the
trolls.

Last one out, turn out the lights.

On an aviation note, my son has started back to work on his private ticket.
He got though college, (no time, no money) and is more determined than ever

Good riddance. I removed JH from my view long before with a simple
filter in GNUS, as his prolific off-topics posts and increasing
attitude that he and his fanboyz owned r.a.h. drove the pollution
level too high to tolerate. That, and his astonishingly childish
understanding of anything outside of Iowa.

Why do you ask.. I am not a USAFA graduate, but I do instruct in gliders and
a retired AF Flight Officer..
so my opinion.. use of gliders for various reasons..
instill discipline in the cockpit..
it takes a team to fly gliders.. it is not a "solo" event as flying power..
instills team work.. there is no "I" in TEAM
teaches basic aerodynamics at minimal cost, with out distractions of power
plant management, more "energy management

Let's just say they are different. Online moderated forums are not
everybody's cup of tea, but I for one don't mind the moderation and
haven't seen the issues seen there by some.
The Usenet forums are still a viable means of constructive aviation
dialog but unfortunately sometimes the aviation content comes with the
first post followed by God only knows what or why :-)

If you stick around for awhile or come back a bit later, you will most
likely see a post under mine made by one of the posters who shall we
say, helps to establish what some of those who have gone might refer
to as the "Usenet" atmosphere around here. He might miss me this trip
but I wouldn't bet the farm on it :-)))

Half the blame for what, Jim? Running off Jay?

Try explaining that one.

For posting too many off topic posts kinda like this entire thread? Jay
posted more off topic than on topic and fanned those flames as much as
anyone.

For being argumentative? Jay was the king of the non sequitur.

For being abrasive? Hmmm, Jay would never do that, would he?

Jay left because he wanted to make some kind of pathetic statement. What
that statement was is anyone's guess. Wherever he is now, he will do the
same after a few months. He gets off over trying to paint himself as some
type of victim. ****ing and moaning is his nature, kinda like you. He's
just a bit better at it.

So just trying explaining just precisely what I am to blame for, if you can.
Jay was a whiney little girl that ****ed and moaned when he didn't get his
way and finally stomped off in the childish manner that has always defined
him. The NG is far better off without him. The only problem was not all of
his fanboyz followed, unfortunately. So no matter how many times you want
to proclaim this NG is dead, much to your chagrin people are still posting
about aviation instead of how Jr is not ****ing his pants anymore. So do
tell me how I am to "blame" for breaking up Jay's private little tea party.
I'll be glad to do more of it.

If it doesn't make sense to you, then you probably haven't spent much time
flying gliders unless it's in some type of commercial operation where you
pay folks to launch and retrieve.

The USAF does it more like a glider club whereby you will spend 4-5 times
more time and effort helping launch and retrieve others than you will spend
actually getting any stick time yourself.

In the time that I have been in the Newsgroups I've seen entire
populations come and go.
It's a cyclic thing.
People go on to other fetishes, die, get married, go back to school,
find a religion (not necessarily in that order).

Yup.
When that fan stops glider pilots have the skills to handle the
situation.

Perhaps compared to someone who NEVER practices power out maneuvers in a
powered aircraft, but not by much really.

The glider accident record says otherwise...

Unless I'm mistaken, Martin is in Austria, so it is somewhat unlikely
you've flown or eaten with him.

This is funny, it's like a really bad aviation Dr. Phil special.

yes, I'm in Austria.

re flying: about 1 month ago I had the chance to come back in a cockpit.
I was in Pilsen, Czech Republic, and there is a small airfield. I had
the chance to copilot. Aircraft was a ultralight, namely a EV-97
Eurostar http://www.letecka-skola.cz/fotostr/06_01.jpg

cool aircraft with neat performance.

All of USAFA's gliders are two place and, as far as I know, they
always fill both seats, even at aerobatic contests where the extra
weight does nothing good for performance.

Yes, USAFA's program is unique and wonderful, IMHO.

So what? You for sure also haven't met many of my pilot friends there. I
don't really care much if you know me or not. :-)

You're the one that just replied twice to the same message, Okie.

Did you change meth suppliers? This new batch seems to be much more potent
as you're getting even less coherent, if that's even possible.

You think so, Okie? Try explaining just what exactly I have EVER whined
about. Though you are quite easily the biggest festering boil on this NG, I
have never even whined about you. In fact, I rather enjoy you being the NG
punching bag.

How does it feel being wrong ALL the time, Maxie? They sure do grow you
Okies dumber than dirt there in Stupidarseholeville.

What do you know, Maxie is actually trying to eak out an original insult
here. To bad it's not any better than the usual recycled BS he's world
famous for. Still it does show initiative, and he should be commended for
it, no matter how lame it really is.
