Google is now hosting Life Magazine's photographic archive. If you do a search
for an image using Google, just set the source to "Life".
Below is a 1939 shot of what has since become Canadian Forces Base Trenton, on
the Bay of Quinte on Lake Ontario.

I don't see that as an option on either images.google.co.uk or
images.google.com. Is this available in the US only, does anybody know?

I did it from Canada. Try:
http://images.google.com/advanced_image_search?q=1910s+source:life&hl=en.

Fanstatic... One question though... Where's the island? If I have
my bearings correct, the causway should to the rear by the building
with the stacks (steam plant?).

Thanks. I'm looking forward to having a good delve into it.

I think we're looking south by southwest. They seem to have screwed about with
the terrain in the intervening 69 years without consulting us, so I am not
sure. I had a look at Google's maps of the area, but they seem to have been
coy about putting any detail on the site.

Try Google Earth. It's aerial and satellite photography.

I just took a look at another picture from the Life series... See
attached. Baker island is there, but the causeway must be artificial.
The causeway should be to the left of the seaplane hanger.
I'd have to dig out my CFB Trenton 50 years anniversary book and see
if there's a mention of them putting in the causeway and when.
