Nice shots, but... the second "F" stands for "Grumman" The F3F is the last Grumman biplane fighter for the navy, with retractable gear just like that on the F4F Wildcat. The -2 is the second minor variant of the marque

"B" in Navy mfr. designations stands for "Boeing" The F4B is indeed a Boeing US Navy fighter of about the same era (a littler earlier IIRC) I'm pretty sure the -4 variant was the last of the Boeing Navy fighter line
