News reports (take them for what they are worth) said that they
encountered a flock of geese. That could certainly ruin your day! :>(

They sure did I was listening on CNN and one reporter comented how hard
it is to put a plane into water when the engines are under the wings. He
then went to say Unlike a 727 or Tristar that has the engines in the
tail.... Need I say more? They also talked about how it may have been a
bird strike while showing film of birds being shot by canon into running
engines. The Irony was they kept repeting he may have hit A (1) bird. I
think he hit a whole Flock and took a few into both engines and if they
were Canada Geese WOW dam good he did not take one through the
windscreen or we all know what would have happened. Great job by the
Pilot and crew
To bad CNN does not have any reporters that really know their aircraft.
That Tristar comment.... And one bird pffft.

Looks like the passengers all have lifejackets, not that that would save you
from hypothermia at this time of year in the Hudson. Last time I did an
internal flight in the 'States, there were no lifejackets, and the safety
instructions told us to float off on our seat cushions, which was a bit
disconcerting because we did actually go some way out to sea for the
approach into Miami. So has this now changed, with lifejackets a
requirement on all internal flights?
