After getting my sim, I am very frustrated trying to find an active
user's group to get some answers to basic questions.
Am I in the wrong place?
One immediate question:
Is there some way I can identify airports as I fly cross country?

Which sim are you flying? If your flying MS flight sim click the map
or gps icon. Each will tell you the airport identifier for all
airports in range.
