The Arizona Soaring Association (ASA) 2009 Contest Series is now on
the calendar with 23 racing days over 10 weekends at 5 locations
around the state. Whether you're a seasoned racer or are just now
tipping your toes in the contest waters, you are welcome to come join
us on the ground and in the air, as long as you are otherwise
qualified to participate in SSA regional contests. Two competition
classes will be supported, so whether you show up in a Diana 2 or a
Gollywhomper A, you can expect an appropriate task.

Non-ASA members will be shaken down for $5 each contest day to get
scored, not to exceed $20 for the year. Please coordinate your
participation with the Contest Manager (that's me) to help us plan for
the appropriate aerotow support. If you wish to join us for any of the
three weekends at El Tiro (Tucson Soaring Club) (the last of which
will be combined with the first weekend of the Southwest Soaring
Championships), a guest membership with TuSC will be required.

For rules and schedule details, please visit http://www.asa-soaring.org/
and click on the "2009 ASA Contest Results" link in the lower right
corner under "Contest News".

Note that this year, for the "A" Class (think SSA Regional FAI class
rules, but using Sports Class handicaps), the CD will have the option
of assigning a Grand Prix style task. These are a LOT of fun! For a
detailed description, see the referenced rules and schedule document
at the ASA web page.
