Hi,

I have added some photos of the new LX Map to my web site. You can see
details here:
http://www.cumulus-soaring.com/lx.htm#LXMap

I like that the LX Map is large, pretty bright, has good resolution, and
that it includes a built-in serial port (2 actually). Since SeeYou Mobile
runs well on it, it supports connections to a wide variety of GPS units and
soaring flight computers. The large size will be considered by some to be a
benefit and others to be a drawback. It may not be easy to fit into
existing glider panels, but should fit OK when laying out a new panel. It
will be interesting to see what the interest is for this impressive new
product.

I think the photo of the ClearNav, LX Map and iPAQ hx4700 sitting next to
each other is very interesting. The LX Map (running SeeYou Mobile) looks
great and is the largest option. The ClearNav is by far the brightest and
the iPAQ hx4700 (3+ years old with backlight slowly dimming over time) is
the least bright. Of course, the photo was taken indoors. I wish I could
have included my iPAQ 310 in the photo, but it is at Larry Goddard's office
for cable testing.

I am still waiting for LX to send me display resolution details on the LX
Map. I know the resolution is good, but I don't know just how good. My
guess is that it is similar to or greater than the resolution on the iPAQ
310 which offers 800 x 480 pixels.

Good Soaring,
