The soaring contest season is up and running. And this Texas contest
site for 2009 has some facts to that will motivate you sign up now:
1. Preferential entry deadline is June 11
2. Texas soaring weather: August in Central Texas offers abundant lift
across a large area
3. Very chick-friendly town. Your significant other will enjoy lots of
antique and art galleries, cafes and wine bars, wineries nearby, bed
and breakfast options and more. You'll find lot's to do in Brenham and
nearby Chapel Hill and Round Top. Take time to tour one of America's
favorite ice cream factory.
4. Excellent airport facilities with a great restaurant on the field
(this year's $100 hamburger location winner!)
5. Good terrain and lots of area airports for XC soaring (see Houston
and San Antonio sectionals)
6. This is a "no water" contest
7. Sports, 15-meter, 18-meter, and Standard classes will compete
8. Co-hosted by Greater Houston Soaring Association and Soaring Club
of Houston
