(USA) New Mexico restricted airspace question

I recently learned that the restricted airspace in the SE corner of
Arizona (R-2303) is not in effect during the weekends. Does anyone
happen to know if any of the restricted areas over central New Mexico
(R-5107 -- over the White Sands Missile Range) have a similar policy?

Hours and Altitude restrictions posted are in the margin of the VFR Chart.
My Charts do not go that far east.

Looking at the Chart on skyvector.com I can see the margin, there are a lot
of parts to R5107, Some are Continuous 5107A/B/D/J etc, Some are By NOTAM
12hrs in advance 5107E/H etc, and some are only 0700-2000 M-F, 5107K, and
some are a combination of the various restrictions. ABQ Center is listed and
128.2 for contact information. FSS will have the NOTAM information 12hrs
before it goes HOT. 1-800WXBRIEF

Ted, You can find that information on a sectional chart... Does
anyone remember THOSE things? They were what used to be used to
Navigate and get information regarding the areas you were covering in
your flight. :-)

It depends on which one you are talking about...Some are continuous
and some are Mon - Fri. Usually we just call ABQ center and ask for
the current status...And can even get into the ones that supposedly
operate "Continuously".

I's been a couple of years since I've dealt with the R5107 White Sands
Restricted Area but this is what I recall. At that time the southern
section was ALWAYS hot. There is a northern section (R5701C&H) that
does open on occasion.

Be aware that the German Luftwaffe does intensive low level training
in their Tornado aircraft in this airspace. It's also worth knowing
that the Spanish called the area "Jornada del Muerto" which translates
something like "dead man walking" or "journey of death". It isn't
exactly landout friendly country.

You can contact the Holloman AFB tower by phone. They'll have the
latest info on R5107.

Also some of the German Luftwaffe guys fly with the Alamogordo soaring
club. Give them a call. I bet they know that airspace pretty well.
