Thunderstorms blocked attempts to fly Alby from Tucson, Arizona to
Moriarty, New Mexico all weekend. Drier air eventually cleared a
southerly route east and Tuno and his ASG-29 set off into blue skies
around noon on Sunday bound for El Paso, Texas. Once he was east of
Tucson, conditions improved in slightly moister air, with scattered
cumulus and top of the lift above 16,000 feet.
Tuno and Alby arrived in El Paso around 6:00 pm local time and they
then spent time doodling on a short cross-country flight while waiting
for his crew to arrive. A total flight of just under 700 km, with a
straight-line distance of over 600 km from El Tiro to El PAso.
