Dave:

I can relate to the "War Finish" cartoon.
When I got out of the army in the 60,s I went to work
in a machine shop, that was updating their machine tools,
one of the milling machine had this tag on it, even if the machine was
old (made during WWII)
and looked like heck, we kept it for years, since it was solid and did
good accurate work, but years later we moved to a larger shop building
and management decided that it needed to go.
they tried to sell it, but no takers, so it was set outside to rust. and
wait for the scrap dealer.. I took this tag off it, to remind me that
even if it looks like hell , it has a job to do...

IIRC:
Hitler, when inspecting a captured Russian T-34, which like this machine
tool, was built to do a job, and not pretty, smooth even rough..
said: something to the effect..

"They can never win with this, looks like junk."

(Will look for the exact quote)

Thanks John. I must admit, before I saw the cartoon, I'd never heard of
it before.
