There's a Me-262 'yellow tail' buried at the old CFB Downsview base. Its
under about 60 feet of dirt.

Interesting. Do you know if there are plans to un-bury it and restore
it?

Is this the one that was burnt before it was buried?

Thanks Rogue. A few more to add to
my collection.
The Me262 is neck and neck with the F86
in my personal contest for beautiful birds.

Agreed.
To me, one of the things that make it so elegant is the triangular shaped
fuselage.
I have always wondered why the triangular shaped fuselage has never been used on
any other fighter aircraft.

Now that is something I'd always recognized, but never
articulated it in that comparative context.
A darned good poser! I'll have to start looking everything
over in my stash more closely to see if anything comes close.

I would suggest that this practice (of a triangularly shape to the
fuselage) soon fell out of favour. At least as early as the 1970's
when the fuselage of the aircraft evolved to also produce lift. I.E. a
blended body wing.

The Beaufighter isn't triangular, not perfectly round but faily close to
oval
