Tragic news this morning from Ephrata (18m Nats). The word is that
Tim's glider "entered an uncontrolled flight condition at about 7000'
from which he [did] not recover. The airframe broke up in flight and
Tim died instantly from the resulting impact." The accident is
obviously under investigation.

Tim was a remarkable guy, a sharp, careful pilot, an entrepreneur of
the first order and a talented musican. I've had the pleasure of
flying with him since he traded his hang gliders for sailplanes about
ten years ago. A staggering loss to family, friends and co-workers.
We'll miss him badly.

Karen and I met Tim at a Region One contest ~ six years ago. Tim was
a great guy ... and was clearly a tremendous soaring enthusiast.

We were very sorry to hear this ... our condolences to the family.
