The company originally responsible for PIK 20 no longer exists. I've
heard, that no procedure to extend the 3.000 hrs limit has been
established, and that consequently ships after this limit can only
operate as experimental. Can someone confirm og correct me?

I do not know if it will help, but here might be a solution:
http://pik20.streckenflug.at/index.php?inc=3000

I am also considering buying PIK-20 as it looks being best
price/performance ratio right after the Astir.
