OLC sluts changing wings in mid air

At a recent impromptu club meeting at a local pub, the subject came
up:
If you had to bail out, would you get OLC points for the distance
covered under canopy?
The pilot who came up with the idea was supposed to post this,
but...
Imagine taking your logger with you as you jump. Those little things
you can hang around your neck would work, unless they get caught in
the suspension lines of the chute, of course. Or you could simply
unscrew or un-Velcro the logger from the glider or grab the PDA before
you leave. Keep it in your left hand, as you'll need the right for the
ripcord.
Does the OLC have handicapping on parachutes? Round chutes have a
pretty poor glide ratio and would score amazingly if there was any
wind. Strong wave days would be best... Until it came to the landing,
but there are no OLC points for style.
I've seen even students with round parachutes go up in thermals.
Thermal centering would be much easier with a square. With practice
this could lead to some serious points.

LOL, I knew the weather has been bad in the Northern Hemisphere but
now I know it is really bad. Way too much time on your hands. I
want to know when will the OLC points factor speed as well as distance
into the score. That will make it much more interesting.

OLC has you both covered, sort of.

Check under OLC-Scoring for the New OLC-Speed category. Just appeared a
couple weeks ago.

There's also a ParaHangGliding category. Right next to Gliding in the
top menu bar. Doesn't look like its got quite as many participants in
the US yet. Not sure if they have a separate category for air drop
start. And it doesn't look like you'd get a handicap boost for a round
chute, but I could be missing something.

Thanks for reminding me to up my hull insurance for UF. I forgot to
do that when I added the 302A. If I decide to 'switch catagories'
I'll try to remember to take my logger and battery before I go.
