Steve Fossett by

We can take pictures of objects on the Earth from space that
are 2 inch's wide. We can take pictures of objects on Mars
that are 12 inches wide. Why can't we find a wrecked
airplane in Nevada?? A place that is mostly dirt and sand
with very little vegetation?
Makes no sense

Private airport insurance? by
Ken Finney
Anyone know home much it would cost to insure a private airport? I know
some people with private fields on the sectional "No landings without prior
permission of owner" and they will tell you that it's open to all their
friends, but they don't have any insurance. I'm thinking that they are...

Icom A24 w/ PTT and headset mic by
B A R R Y
I use my A24 lots, for listening to ASOS, communicating to aircraft at
fly-ins, ordering fuel, etc... I rarely use it with a headset.
The other night, I had a full-on comm failure and needed to use it
while aloft, with a headset. It took me a few minutes to remember,
but my radio keys only the...

garmin or something else by
Kelly
I'm trying to figure out what portable device to buy to provide in-
flight weather, as well as terrain info. Electronic approach plates
and enroute charts, as well as flight planning capability, would also
be a plus, but not essential. I fly a Cessna 172 that is already
equipped with a Garmin...

Abduction?? by
idurber
Hi, I'm a UK PPL holder with night and imc ratings with over 250hrs
logged and have twice seen moving objects in the skies of the UK which
I cannot explain. What with all the recorded sightings of UFO's across
the US, is it feasible that Steve Fossett has become the victim of an
abduction??
I've...

Spin Recovery Training Before First Solo? by
[email protected]
The thread "Any Spins Lately" made me wonder. If an instructor does
not teach spin recovery, is it worthwhile to find someone that teaches
spin recovery and take a few lessons before the first solo. If not,
then when would be a good time to do upset and spin recovery training.
Before my first...

U.S. Navy 'Top Gun' Pilot Questions 9/11 by
[email protected]
U.S. Navy 'Top Gun' pilot, Commander Ralph Kolstad, started
questioning the official account of 9/11 within days of the event. It
just didn't make any sense to me, he said. And now 6 years after 9/11
he says, When one starts using his own mind, and not what one was
told, there is very little to...

600 square miles? by
Hilton
Hi,
OK, help me with my math here. If Fossett's groundspeed was (just) 90 knots
and he had 5 hours of fuel (according to the media), then pi*R^2 = 3.141 *
450 * 450 = 636,172 square miles (NM). If you convert that for the
non-aviators, it is about 731,598 square miles (SM).
OK, I understand...
