samll plane noise by
daffy
The Bay Area is plagued by small plane noise. I can't go outside
without hearing the droneing sound. From afar, it is like some sort
of low frequency noise, as the plane gets closer, it is very
irritating.
The FAA should regulate the noise levels of these planes before
they become a real nusance,...

"From the Ground Up" by
AJ
I know someone some time ago was looking for the complete set of DVDs
from the series "From the Ground Up." I didn't know until recently
that the EEA was one of the producers of this show. I looked on their
website and, by gum, there it is.
If the person who was looking for this is still on this...

Another Coast-to-Coast by
gyoung
Twice in the past I've made X-C *almost* coast-to-coast: EDW-VPS in a
Mooney in '78, and LFI-ABQ in a C-172 in '04. Going the full distance,
ocean to ocean, became a goal I hoped to achieve one day. My wife came
to share the vision and we started plotting and planning the trip to fly
from...

activities related to ATC (primarily weather and separation issues).

GA airport in Paris by
Frode Berg
Hi!
I might be flying to Paris with my son next week.
Never landed near Paris to go to town (flown past a few times) so I'm not
really familiar with the airports there.
Which one is the typical GA one?
I need AVGAS, and it would be nice if it's easy to get to downtown Paris.
Thanks for any tips!

Home Slamming Down Under; Drone Slamming in AZ by
Skylune[_1_]
First article covers small plane that SLAMMED into a house in Austriala.
Second covers drone that SLAMMED into a hillside near some homes. Seems
that slamming is spreading to other countries and newer forms of aviation.
Should be really interesting when the VLJs get in on the...

Banner Plane Impacts Water w/ photo by
Owen
Aug 5, 2006. Banner plane loses power off Hyannnis, Cape Cod,
Massachusetts and ditches in the water. Although beachgoers and
witnesses were stunned, the pilot swam away unscathed. The Champion was
later recovered from the water.

Right of Way in the pattern? by
Kingfish
Had this happen on Sunday up in Ontario. We were flying into Muskoka (a
non-towered field) in the Pilatus and were "cleared" in by Canadian
FSS. (We were IFR but in good VMC wx) We enter on the right downwind to
Rwy 18 and hear another acft on freq - apparently he's NE of the field
entering on the...

Get Rid Of Warbirds At Oshkosh by
RST Engineering
I'm prejudiced. Of course I'm prejudiced. In 5000+ flight hours, I've
never come as close to a midair as I did at Oshkosh 1999. Oshkosh Tower:
"BlueOnBlue Cessna, number three for runway 27. Ercoupe put it on the
numbers. Flight of three T6s, cross over runway 27, right downwind for
runway...

about headsets by
Sylvain
well, after much deliberation, I called Phil from Quiet Technologies and
ordered a set of his "Halo" headset -- it was my birthday and I felt like
spending some money on myself, I mean, besides the money I spend on
flying :-). He said I should get it soon, and I'll post a PIREP here if
anyone...

Fly in at 40G by
Aluckyguess
There is a fly in at Valle Grand Canyon airport on the 2nd and 3rd of Sept.
I was just there. It is a nice airport with a car and airplane museum. They
let me have a courtesy car and were very helpful. I would highly recommend
stopping for fuel or just someplace to fly to. They also have within...

Oshkosh '06 Redux by
Jay Honeck
Maybe I missed it, but all of the previous posts about OSH '06
(including my own) have been about the problems encountered en route to
and from the Big Show. In all the controversy, the show itself has
been barely mentioned! Time to rectify this:
The Big Bombers
The purported theme of the...

GPS/XM Weather Question by
Kyle Boatright
For those of you who have XM weather integrated with your GPS.
Do you use the weather information to paint a big picture of what's going on
around you. I.E. "If I fly 50 miles thataway, it looks like I'll be able to
circumvent this line of storms."
Or, do you us it on a more detailed level....

"Pakistani" airfield near Toronto? by
Paul Tomblin
I was out flying around western New York yesterday, listening to 122.7
which is used for a lot of local airports as a CTAF. As usual, I could
also hear some airports in southern Ontario. But then I heard something
weird - a couple of guys with thick Pakistani accents were on the
frequency, and it...

A Boyer acolyte makes the following statement publicly (regarding user
fees):
"That is why it's vital that we ensure airports get the funding they need
to maintain safety and generate revenue."
They need to "get funding" to "generate revenue."
LOL. Sounds like when Democrats talk about...
