Sporty's Cell Phone Interface by
Mortimer Schnerd, RN
Have any of you guys tried the new Sporty's cell phone interface that allows you
to hear both ATC and cell phone at the same time? It runs about $100. I'd be
interested in cheaper alternatives if they exist and any downsides if anybody's
experienced one.
I like the idea of being able to use the...

worth learning to fly gliders? by
Emily
Haven't actually flown VFR much for years, except while instructing. I
really only fly to go somewhere, but have been toying with the idea of a
glider rating for a while. Is it worth it? The glider clubs I've
talked to find out I'm an A&P and want me to maintain their aircraft,
something I'm not...

I have been trying to contact Air Desert Pacific at Bracket Field in LA

If anyone can...

pushing planes by
John Clear
Jay started a discussion recently about pushing planes after seeing
someone push a Cherokee by the elevator.
I was at the Golden West Fly-in at Marysville, CA (MYV) over the
weekend, and after the air race demo, the crew of Dreadnought
(Hawker Sea Fury) grabbed a bunch of spectators to help push...

Backup alternator PA28-235... by
USA
Hi all, does anyone know if the PA28-235 platform can handle a backup
alternator? If so, how would one be mounted? If not, what is the
substitute alternative? Any suggestion on how many hours in labor &
costs would be appreciated.
Thank you.

What does Minimum Fuel Mean? (Callback #318) by

Callback #318
http://asrs.arc.nasa.gov/callback_issues/cb_318.htm
³Minimum Fuel" Does Not Mean Priority Handling
Recent ASRS incident reports reveal a common misunderstanding involving
use of the phrase ³minimum fuel. Pilots may tell ATC that they have
³minimum fuel with the expectation that they...

First Angel Flight by
Jack Allison
Today, I had the opportunity to share the gift of flight with a young
burn survivor by taking her to a week long summer camp near Fresno, CA.
"Champ Camp" happens every year and when I figured out that the dates
lined up with an available flying day, I jumped at the chance for a mission.
I was...

Northwest airports near flyfishing spots by
john smith
Hi Everyone,
I am looking for good flyfishing locations around
Washington/Oregon/Idaho/Montana/Vancouver BC.
It would be ideal if the airport was either walking distance to the fishing
holes, or there is some type of shuttle or taxi service that could be
purchased.
I would either rent a 182 or...

Better drivers? by
cpw
I apologize if this topic has been beaten to death in the past. I am
wondering if there are any statistics on whether pilots are safer
(automobile) drivers than the general public. It has seemed to me that
my pilot training has improved my driving skills in several ways:
situational awareness,...
