WOW !. Bob Hoover's Stopped Engine Aerobatics:

Bob Hoover is considered one of the founding fathers of modern
aerobatics, he was described by Jimmy Doolittle as, "...the greatest

Easy Way by
nick
What's the easiest way for me to fly without commiting to an expensive
school? Can I home study for the FAA test, and then rent a plane for
the 40 hrs. needed?

PDA: Which one and what software? by
[email protected]
Hello, I am a private pilot aspiring to move up the rating and get my
CFI.
I am in the market for a PDA to help organize my life, dates, phone
numbers, addresses, emails, and also double as a electronic flight
computer and sort of a electronic flight bag type of thing.
My laptop is a Powerbook...

Quotes please... by
Casey Wilson
Hello all,
I'm working on an article for a regional magazine in California. The
spin of the article is to encourage folks to go down to their local airport
and sign up for that first lesson to get them started on either a sport or
private pilot certificate.
What I'm asking our R.A.P. community...

Passports by
Ol Shy & Bashful
Curious to see how many of the people here have passports and who has
visited outside of their home country as a civilian.
Pilots being the more adventurous types, I'm curious.
As noted before, I've traveled extensively outside the USA and have had
probably 6 or more passports that ran out of time...

Who uses this plane? by
Dylan Smith
On my fuel stop on the way to PJY, I spotted this Beech 1900:
http://www.alioth.net/pics/Pinckneyville-2006/Pinckneyville-2006-Pages/Image2.html
It has a 'United States of America' logo (a bit like the B747 that gets
used for Air Force One) but it has *no* N number indicating it's not a
civilian...

Resume own naviation on course by
[email protected]
I'm VFR at 2,500 ft AGL with a course that will in 10 minutes take me
through a Class D airspace. I contact flight following, ATC gives me a
squawk code and says, "Resume own navigation on course. Do not enter
class D airspace."
Huh? If I continue on course, I will go through the Class D...

Maintenance Costs/Hangar Costs by
aml
I am wondering if somebody out there can give me some real world numbers
on how much their maintenance costs are for a Cessna 340 and 414. I
don't care if it has the RAM conversion or not. A good friend of mine is
starting a charter company and wants to have numbers to put in the
business plan.
I...

Air & Space, June/July 2006 by
john smith
One would think a premier aviation publication such as Air & Space would
get basic facts correct.
Page 13, In Memoriam, paragraph one...
"...Scott Crossfieldk 84 was killed las April when flying his
twin-engine Cessna 210A..."

Losing an old friend by
cjcampbell
Some of you may remember my first airplane, N9636B. It was a 172RG and
I had many hours in it. I frequently talked here about my experiences
with it.
I was curious as to what it was doing now and did a search on the
plane. To my shock, I learned that it crashed near Catalina Island on
September 5,...

Flying with a door off? by
Len
Hey-
I'd like to try some air to air photography. Does anyone know if it is
feasible to fly either a Bonanza or a Cessna 172/182/206 without a
passenger door or window? Do we need any special paperwork from the FAA
FSDO?
The plane we are trying to take pictures of is a bit to fast in...

Many thanks to everyone in the aviation community for making our annual Big

Question for controllers by
Capt.Doug
In your controller training, are situations addressed concerning aircraft
which request priority but do not declare an emergency? Is there any
guidance in the Controllers' Handbook?
