Just an FYI to all of you rec.aviation regulars out the Jim Burns turns

(His wife, Tami, promised him that we'd keep it quiet...)
:-)
Unfortunately, 1/8 mile vis with freezing rain and snow...

Airline Joke by
Jim
Probably posted here a dozen times but it's a first for me. ;)

Jim Fisher
A guy sitting at an airport bar in Los Angeles noticed a beautiful young
woman sitting next to him. He thought to himself, "Wow, she's so gorgeous
she must be a flight attendant. But which airline does she work...

Tower to tower by
keepitrunning
This is my first post to this rec.aviation.piloting so forgive me if this
has been discussed before.
A friend of mine who is IFR rated said there used to be a term called tower
to tower to allow for an IFR clearance from one towered airport to another.
This type of clearance wasn't as complicated...

On the nightly news "A little airplane crashed near Fittstown" (Fittstown is
near ADA,OK (ADH).)
The plane had two seats and one person was killed. The pilot was the only one on
board and was on his was to pickup his wife in Dallas. The airplane was an
antique aircraft. (That sure narrows it...

Aeronautical Engineer says Official 9/11 Story Not Possible by
Matt Wright
TRUTH wrote:
In reality, a clueless non-pilot would encounter almost insurmountable
difficulties in attempting to navigate and fly a 200,000-lb airliner into
a building located on the ground, 7 miles below and hundreds of miles

Different categories of ILS hold short lines at large airports by
Peter R.
Thanks to a discussion in a LiveATC.net's forum, I was unaware that there
were actually different categories of ILS hold short lines. What is
puzzling to me is that there are examples of the CAT III hold short lines
being closer to the runway served by the CAT III approach than the CAT I
hold...

Have You Given a Stranger a Ride? by
Jay Honeck
In another thread the "folks by the fence" -- airport spectators --
have been discussed, and a couple of us have stated that we've always
wanted to shut down and ask if anyone wanted to go for a ride.
In my opinion, this single act of kindness would absolutely make
someone's day, and could...

The BIRDS by
Kyle Boatright
How many of you have experienced a bird strike?
I apparently had one the other day and didn't even know it until I was
wiping the airplane down and found a tuft of feathers on the prop's leading
edge, right at the tip. No damage to the airplane and no guts splattered on
the airplane. Maybe I just...

OT I have lost a dear friend by

With your kind permission I would like to take just a few lines here to say
goodbye to an old and dear friend.
This Monday, retired AF Brig Gen Robert L. Scott Jr. died. He was 97.
Scotty and I go way back together.
When I was a young boy dreaming about becoming a pilot, it was Bob's book

Military Airfield Procedures.. by
Dan
Last night I took a quick trip to KYUM. On approach, the controller
mentioned that the "arresting gear was up" on the runway I was to land
on. Being unfamiliar with arresting gear and flying an Archer, I asked
the controller specifically what that meant. He indicated that it
consisted of a cable...
