C172 charter in LA by
Timo
Hi
I have plans to visit the USA this September for 3 weeks. There i'd
like to charter a C172 for 12 to 14 days. Starting point would be LA
(California). Does anybody know a serious company or flight school
where it is possible to charter a C172 in the LA area?
Kind regards
Timo / Switzerland

AOPA melodrama by
Skylune
The president, though long retired from the TV biz, has not lost his flair
for drama:
After flying back from Hawaii for a meeting he attended "on his own time"
(I assume this aside is supposed to make people not question how their dues
are being spent...), Phil arrived in DC to "implore" decision...

X-country course leg extender??? by
Casey Wilson
The fuel capacity of the 172M that I fly is considerably larger than my
bladder capacity, that's a fact. A glider-guider friend of mine suggested I
think about one of these:

Anybody out ever try this? Any PiReps?

Airplane Batteries by
[email protected]
I am a new airplane owner (since May). My mechanic replaced my battery
last June. No choices, I figured he bought the one it needed.
Just serviced it (added water). It's in a REALLY awkward spot to get at
and see inside the cells -- on the floor under the instrument panel of a
plane with no doors...

Angel Flight by
George
I was thinking about jointing/volunteering for Angel Flight of Oklahoma as a
pilot. Would a low time VFR pilot be of any use to them? I have 190 hr soon to
be 200hr, when we get some good flying weather. I have flown only 3 times since
November. Because VFR flying is unreliable, I wonder if I...

How do you keep current? by
Rachel
My difficulties in getting an IPC have really reminded me that it's
easier to stay current than get current again. Problem is, I don't know
how to stay current.
We don't get much IMC here, so flying approaches by myself isn't really
an option. We certainly don't get enough to get in six...

Runnnig take off... by
Flyingmonk
You(big) and a big buddy are in a two seater Robinson R22, a rinky dink
but very responsive helo, with full fuel. Conditions hot and high, you
can't get the chopper to lift up off the skids... What do you do?
Well, lift up on the collective making sure you don't over do the
manifold pressure. ...

FAA licenses and currencies by
Momme Mommsen
Hello,
i have a few questions about licenses in the US
Where can i find an overview of the FAA licenses and currencies (VFR & IFR)?
Do you have to extend your licenses, or do you only have to stay current?
Greetings
Momme

The movie: Always by
Bob Chilcoat
Recently got this movie and have watched it several times. My 2.5 year-old
grandson loves the flying scenes - wants me to repeat certain scenes over
and over. Fun movie, but considering that it's a tribute to WW-II style
flying, couldn't Spielberg have tried a bit harder for...

Fat Birds by
Bob Chilcoat
We have a pretty active bird feeder, with several different types of seed,
in the backyard near a large picture window. We get a variety of birds
ranging from sparrows and finches to woodpeckers, cardinals and jays. Some
mornings there is a small pile of feathers on the ground near it,...

Sell Google Stocks before they crash! by
Wallstreet-Cockpit
Dear Traders,
One thing is fore sure, good value stocks will never fall like Amazon.com or Yahoo! during the perfect storm of the internet hype.
To give you a small hint about Google, you have to look at the heavy insider trading in this stock. Stocks with the value of more than 15 Billion...

I think I know why so many Cirrus' crash by
Ron Lee
Coming back from KCOS to 00V today several aircraft were in the
pattern for runway 33 and some people wanted runway 15 since the winds
were at the changeover point. With one or two at the runup area for
runway 15 I just went east until the fiasco was sorted out (I made
several position reports...
