Flight plan equipment suffix by
abripl
Up till now I have been using the /G Flight plan equipment suffix. I
have IFR rated GPS Garmin 300XL + Narco 122D VOR/LOC/GS. But with the
cost of Jeppesen $kybound service "skyrocketing" (30% jump in one year)
I plan not to update the card full time and use GPS for VFR only - I am
not wealthy nor...

Garmin 430 Jeppesen Skybound updates by
John Doe
Is it possible to purchase a one-time update to the 430 database using the
Skybound adapter?
I don't fly enough IFR to require a current database year round and I'd like
to just update it during certain times during the year.
When I check their webpage all I can find is a one time mail in option...

Bose X - $995 and holding... by
[email protected]
I've flown with the Bose X in my pal's Navajo (he has two up front and
two Sennheisers in back) and love it. The thing weighs nothing and the
sound quality is fantastic (esp with the CD player piped in). My bitch
is they're twice as much as the next cheapest ANR headset and by now
I'd figured the...

GPS Visualizer now supports Google Earth & airport codes by
Adam Schneider
A couple weeks ago, I posted a message announcing that GPS Visualizer
could draw Google Maps from your GPS data. Now I'm happy to say that
you can also use it to generate KML files for display in Google Earth:

I found this on the FAA "Pilot Medical Certification-Frequently Asked

means: "Coronary heart disease that has been treated or, if untreated,
that has been symptomatic or clinically significant."
I recently underwent...

So where you flying for Turkey Day? by
Jay Honeck
We're supposedly heading for Lansing, MI, so spend a few days with my
sister. Given the wonderful weather on the lee-side of Lake Michigan at
this time of year, our fall-back trip is to Minneapolis, to visit Mr. and
Mrs. Montblack for a day or two.
If the weather *really* sucks, we'll hole up in...

Big iron landing porpoise by
[email protected]
I generally never post links to things like this but this video clip is
an exception... I think it's a 737, and its landing gear proved to be
much stouter than I'd ever have expected it to be. Yikes!

Garmin 430 vs 196 questions by
John Doe
Does the 430 have extended runway depictions like the 196 and other
handhelds have?
Does the 430 have the VNAV profile for descents like the 196 and other
handhelds have?

There is a CRANKSHAFT GEAR RETAINING BOLT AD 2004-10-14 effective June 25
2004, pertaining to certain types of Lycoming engines, which redefines
"prop-strike" and states:

Bax Seat :was A serious proposal by

Not sure, if you or someone else can give me a month/year I will see if I
can run it down.

OK, I think I understand now, but this isn't the one I was thinking of.
I was thinking of the last article published when he "retired" from
writing the Bax Seat column. My recollection has faded,...

Flying into NYC for Thanksgiving Day Parade by
John Doe
Hello all,
I was thinking about flying the family up to NYC to see the Thanksgiving Day
Parade.
Anyone recommend an airport to fly in to?
I would rather not rent a car, just get into town somehow and then the walk
or cab it while in the city.

STC for mogas in O-235 by
Matt
Hi everyone. I was reading about Petersen's STC to use mogas in the O-235.
Apparently the STC for the O-235 only allows premium (91 octane) to be used.
I would still be reluctant to use premium since it is a "step down" in
octane for the O-235. I would not have a problem if I was flying an...
