Engine failure on takeoff by
Greg Copeland
http://www.faa.gov/avr/aai/evt20040503.htm#60539
If you look at report #6, this happened just recently near me. Seems the
pilot had engine failure during take off and attempted to make it back to
the runway. He didn't make. He didn't miss by far, only shy about
100-yards, or so the news print...

Need A Definition by
Jay Beckman
Hi All...
I came across a term the other day I'm not familiar with...
Back in WWII, when a new plane came off the assembly line, a WAC would take
it up and "Slow Time" it.
What was/is "Slow Timing" an airplane?
Was it for single-engine fighters only, or was this something done to all

which frequencies are all? by
Arden Prinz
I was approaching class C airspace for landing at the primary airport
for which the class C airspace is designated and I listened to the
ATIS. The ATIS said "all frequencies are combined on
TowerFrequency". So I tuned to TowerFrequency and made my radio
call to approach. The response that I...

Spin by
Toks Desalu
(I wished that I didn't see that show)
I was flipping through channels the other day and I came across a show
called, Real TV. They did a story about a plane crash. They showed this
because one of passengers survived. He or she parachuted out of a spinning
aircraft. The amateur video showed the...

Super tanker by
B25flyer
Several months ago there was a discussion here about fire suppression tankers.
I mentioned that a certain airline was looking into the modification of 747s.
Some people expressed the feeling that it would never happen.
Take a look at www.evergreenaviation.com Look at the Supertanker icon...

better place.
I have a project where I have to determine the correct GMT time offset
for the arrive staton of a flight. I'm doing this for a company that

Paul Sengupta, of these newsgroups, has just departed Cedar Rapids for
Chicago, en route to Washington, D.C. to spend some time with Ron & Margy

One of my students hurt in hard landing by
C J Campbell
Back in late 2002 and early 2001 I had a commercial student who was an Army
Reserve helicopter pilot. He was called to active service for the invasion
of Iraq and had to leave, but he finished his training in Mississippi and
Texas before he went overseas. I had not heard from him since then and...

Cirrus SR22 Purchase advice needed. by

The SR20's limit of 12000 hours is still too limiting, IMHO, but I can
appreciate the FAA's conservatism regarding any new (indeed
revolutionary) design.
I was told by a Diamond rep...

Mother's Day Flight by

Mary flew the four of us over to the "Black Angus" restaurant in Prairie du

light, the sun was warm, and Midwest and Mississippi valley was bathed in an
intense spring green that almost hurts your eyes.
Her flight,...

Allen C Perkinson Airport/Blackstone Army Airfield (KBKT) in

Methane Cloud? by
Martin
Saw just a real short clip of something on the Disc channel tonight
about how methane clouds affect aircraft. Lower pressure causes the
plane to drop because of reduced lift, and the altimeter to read a
climb because of the pressure change. I think this show may have been
in the context of bermuda...

WINGS, BFR, and Log entries by

What's necessary in a logbook to indicate that a WINGS level completion is
serving in place of a BFR? AC 61-91H merely mentions in (6) that the
completion serves in place of a BFR, and in (9) mentions "...logbooks or
other proficincy records...". At various WINGS-fulfilling events, a form

UTICA TRSA shape by
Jeff Saylor
The UTICA TRSA (western New York) is situated around both
towered Oneida County (KUCA) and non-towered Griffis Airpark
(KRME), formerly Griffis AFB. It is centered on KRME, so perhaps
that is where the radar antenna is.
The outer perimeter of the TRSA is a large circle, about 14-15 nm
radius,...
