OT Invitiation to the end of the IRS by

How is switching to a tax on consumption going to help? We already have
sales taxes.
The answer is the flat tax. Just like Soc Sec .. EVERYONE pays the same
percent of their income. Period. No deductions. No sliding scale. No

My First Flying Lesson by
Peter
Wahay! I had my first flying lesson. I saved up for a 30 minute Trial Lesson
and I loved it!
Does anyone have any advice for a young adult to begin his career as a
commercial Pilot in the UK?
It would be greatly appreciated, and as soon as I finish my A-Levels I will
be off to study and practice...

ideas for fun contests at fly-ins by
Hoot
I'm organizing a fly-in coming up in a few months and would like to have
some fun activities or contests. So far we're thinking about a spot
landing contest for arrivals and a precision flour bombing contest during
departures. Pilots can win prizes like a GPS or new headset or something.
Also...

Don't sell your loran by
Bob Gardner
At the controller's "Communicating for Safety" conference, one-time FAA
Administrator Langhorn Bond told me that loran is coming back as a backup to
GPS. He obviously sits on a lot of committees, work groups, etc
internationally, and has a lot of good info. He pointed out that on two
occasions...

MEI before CFII? by
BoDEAN
Any advantages / disadvantages to getting my MEI before my CFII?
I would like to start building some multi time, and figure getting my
MEI in the process is my best bang for the buck.

100hr insp + non profit flying clubs by

In the U.S., does 91.409(b) required 100hr inspections for a non-profit
flying club?
Here are some relevant details:
A club (a non-profit corporation in the eyes of the state) is formed
specifically as a flying club, and has no purpose other than to provide
its members with aircraft for private...

renter's insurance by
RM
It seems that a local guy will make me quite a good deal on renting his
little Cessna IF I supply my own renter's insurance.
I've no experience with this. Anyone have any pointers on where to go,
who to avoid and what it might cost?

small airplanes are dangerous by
JimTheBoatMan
I often worry about all the small airplanes flying around my house.
Shouldn't
they be regulated better. I mean can these guys just fly all over with out
the government knowing about it. One of my friends told me that they
can just leave and go where ever they want without telling anybody. I
think...

Iowa to Washington State? by
Jay Honeck
According to Destination Direct, we are just 10.5 hours away from my sister
in Sequim, WA.
D.D. routes us northwest to Billings, Montana, and then west from there.
The terrain looks very high, indeed.
Can Atlas make the jump? Is it possible for a normally aspirated plane
(and pilots!) to fly...

Part Time Aviation Jobs by
Curt Fennell
What kinds of part time jobs are available for pilots besides CFI/II?
Is charter and or ferrying something one can do part time?
Also, I know you don't get paid to join the CAP, but do you have to
pay to fly with them once you join?
TIA,
Curt

Oil Weights and Numbers by
Scott Lowrey
Seeing the thread about a DE who seemed to have the wrong idea about
communication frequency areas on a chart made me think of something
that's been bugging me since my check ride.
The DE asked, "What kind of oil do you put in the airplane we're going
to fly?" I told him the plane used 50 weight...

When I go to http://home.earthlink.net/~earthylinky/ I get a page not

Piper Power Settings? by
Journeyman
So, I'm going through the performance charts for my new ride (in
case anyone missed my long postings), and there's a graph that
lists fuel flow for a given power setting (eg. 9.16 GPH @ 65%).
Another charts lists MP at altitude for each power setting.
The weird thing is the MP drops with altitude....

The President's Space Initiative Speech by
Jay Honeck
I caught most of it -- and it was fantastic! To hear a president actually
promoting manned space travel, and laying out a plausible, doable plan to
get our space program back on track, was a breath of fresh air on a bleak
and dreary January day.
Hell, maybe we'll set foot on Mars before I die...
