Flying Driving frin FLA by
bushwacker
I was referred to this by my parents.
I live in Seattle and just bought a Honda Insight in FLA.
I am a school teacher and cannot get way to pick it up right now.
My parents have friends who have their cars driven up from AZ each
year by pilots/retired pilots that get free tickets but...

BRS Question by
Michael 182
Is there any mechanical reason the BRS system could not be designed to allow
the chute to deploy, stabilize/slow the plane and, optionally, allow the
pilot to disconnect the chute to land normally?
I'm thinking about floating down in a $400K Cirrus with chute deployed in a
spin in IMC, then...

Wanting to take a LONG Cross Country - Ft. Worth to San Diego... advice? by
Peter Gibbons
Received my instrument rating about a year ago, but I haven't managed
to rack up alot of flight hours since then (Im just shy of 200 hours).
I think I've just become bored with flying around the same area all
the time, and I'm really wanting to do something different and
challenging. Plus it would...

class C and B comms on sectionals? by
Magnus
In the legend on sectional charts there are a number of frequencies
listed for the various class B and C airspaces and airports.
For example, the northern florida chart has jacksonville listed as
"120.75 (091-180)". Now, during my commercial checkride a month ago my
examiner asked me what the...

Cirrus Airframe Life Limits by
Dave
I read a few posts referring to the FAA certificated life limit of the
cirrus airframes and couldn't believe my eyes. So, i did some
searching and here's what I found:
SR20 (approved 10/23/98) - airframe life limit 12,000 hours
SR22 (approved 11/30/00) - airframe life limit 4,350 hours
It's...

WTB Warp drive propeller by
Jean-Paul Roy
Good day
I'm looking to purchase a 60' Warp drive 2 blades propeller.
It needs to be a pusher type in good condition,
preferably square tip. Is there someone that has one for
sale. If yes, would appreciate photo before purchasing.
Thank you

Cirrus aircraft and spins by
EDR
One of the things I looked at when this whole debate started were the
aircraft dimensions.
The SR-22 is 26 feet long and 38 feet (38.3) wide (wingspan).
One of my books (STALLS, SPINS, AND SAFETY/Sammy Mason) discusses the
moment about the wings and moment about the fuselage and the ability...

Using thermals to climb? by
Kees Mies
Hi All,
I need some advise.
The summer is starting and my plane is a rotten climber, certainly on
hot days at MTOW.
The best it can do in these conditions is about 300fpm.
My idea is to use thermals to climb (much)faster like gliders do.
Is this a stupid idea?
If my idea is not that stupid how do...

Headset music by
Neil Bratney
Hello all,
I'm getting set for my second solo cross country in training for my PP.
Looking at my headset, my Lightspeed 30-3G has a port on the ANR box
where I can attach a portable CD player for music. The headset is
supposed to automatically mute the music when comm comes in from the...

Goddamn idiots! by
HECTOP
Just barely a minute ago, a Cessna 337 Skymaster flew by a condo building
root here in Miami Beach like 30 feet away, then another one, then another,
full friggin' steam ahead. This is a first time I ever wanted to report
someone for anything. Is there a way to call someone, maybe Miami Approach
to...

Shameless Plug for Stearman fans by
Jay Honeck
Our Stearman Suite is finally DONE. It took a little specialty welding,
but we finally got that big ol' Stearman prop mounted -- on top of the TV
armoire! (See a picture of my patient A&P welding up the mounting bracket,
and some other pix, at http://alexisparkinn.com/the_stearman_suite.htm...

For those of you who self studied... What did you use? by
Anthony L
Hello everyone...pretty simple question. I am interested in doing
self-study for my ground school. I feel like I would do better at my own
pace, and I have a lot of experience working with industry certifications at
home, so I don't think I will lose any quality training.
I have read about many...

Question Regarding 9/11 Planes... by
builderbos
Hi all,
I don't know anything about flying, and would like some answers from
anyone interested in responding.
For the record, I'm not here to debate this issue. I'm here for
opinions from people whom I'm assuming would know far better than I
what is a reasonable answer to this question:
It is...

AOPA Sells-Out California Pilots in Military Airspace Grab? by
Larry Dighera
Another attempted military airspace grab?
The USMC wants to convert the San Onofre High and Low MOAs, that lie
along the busy, aircraft-congested Pacific coastline, into a
Restricted Area: R-2503D. The USMC say they need 38% higher
Restricted Airspace to conduct live-fire artillery and aerial...

I'm a real PILOT! by
CFLav8r
I'm a real pilot, am I not?
I ask this question to the entire aviation NG, to find out if you consider
yourself a real pilot.
The question came as I was returning from my mailbox this morning only to
have my neighbor stop and ask me "why if your always getting aviation stuff
(EAA magazine came this...
