New FAA Safety Seminar Website by
Skyking
There is a new place to find out about safety meetings
and participate in the WINGS program.
If you are close to more than one FSDO, you don't
have to search multiple sites, just enter your zip and
distance that you are willing to travel.

Good luck, fly safe,

Fly-In Beer Festivals by
Jay Honeck
Okay, before ANYONE says anything about how irresponsible it is for a pilot
to be (*gasp!*) drinking beer, the qualifying rules a
1. Fly in to a nearby airport -- preferably within walking distance.
2. Stay the night somewhere.
3. THEN drink beer.
Okay, that said, here are a few family events...

Where to find textual pireps? by
Andrew Gideon
I've been looking at aviationweather.gov. There's a nice picture of PIREPs,
but I'd like to see the text reports too. Anyone know where these can be
found on the 'net (or this site)?
Thanks...
Andrew

flying internationally with US private by
Damn Dan
A frenchman I know is going to school here in the states and is interested
in getting his private pilot's license. He asked me if the lincense he got
here would hold any weight in France when he went back home after school.
Anybody know the international policies on stuff like that?

Tow banner on a PP license by
Victor
I have a friend that is purchasing a plane and will start a business
of tow banner. He said I could fly the plane for him without been paid
, this way I can get many hours on my logbook.
Is it legal to do banner towing on a PP license without receiving
payment for it?

Miss May 2004. by
Capt.Doug
I didn't post to the wrong group. Playboy Magazine's Miss May 2004 should be
looked at seriously. She wants to be a corporate Learjet pilot. Anyone care
to help her build some stick time?
D. (P.S.- She can hold altitude and heading very well in the KingAir)

Guess the only way to stop this type of accident is to get that new

New Jets stadium in NYC? There goes the corridor! by
Peter Gottlieb
Just saw that this is being pushed through. It would be just south of the
Javits Center, right on the river.
If this is built, any event there would close the Hudson River VFR corridor.

New Tactic for Attracting Women... by
Jay Honeck
....to aviation, of course. ;-)
Here's something I hadn't thought about:
My wife, Mary, (also a pilot) upon reading that Harrison Ford -- voted the
sexiest man alive by People magazine -- will be heading up the EAA's Young
Eagle program, remarked that this year's Young Eagle's rally (or...

Club Management Issue by
Geoffrey Barnes
First off, I'm not directly involved in this situation, but I am trying to
gain an understanding on how other FBOs and flying clubs deal with something
like it.
One of our club members was flying our 182 -- which the club leases from the
two gentlemen who own it -- and had what appeared to be an...

Tour Tours Back? by
Jay Honeck
Over on the student group, I was surprised to see that some towers have been
giving tours for the last year.
Since 9/11, our closest Class C tower (Cedar Rapids) has been -- and
remains -- closed to tours.
Is there a rhyme or reason to this?

Bahamas Approach Plates by
Carlo
I need approach plates for the bahamas, but all I could find that is
suitable the the jeppesen trip kit for $69.00 and covers the entire
carribean. The DOD plates only have Nassau, so that won't work. I need
approaches for Treasure Cay and Marsh (RNAV/GPS)specifically. If someone
has these,...

When You Hear The Heavy Accent & The Poor Phone Connection... HANG UP!! ... by

I think you must know what I’m talking about. Together, a heavy foreign
accent,
coupled with a lousy phone connection can only mean one thing... An
outsourced
operation, in a place like India, China, The Philippines, etc.; where some
greedy American corporation is saving a few pieces of...

HOT start 180 hp engine by
Hankal
My 1973 Skyhawk has the 360/180 hp engine carburated.
When the engine is hot it is difficult to start.
My procedure is master switch battery side on, fuel pump on. Prime throttle 3
times. Fuel pump off, turn starter while advancing the throttle.
Today she would not fire and the battery went...
