Would ~ 500 planes depress the U.S. used aircraft market? by
OtisWinslow
The used market is already projected to go in the toilet very shortly.
Prices
are starting to drop. A repeat of the 80s when stuff sold for a fraction of
it's previous value. High fuel prices. People are losing on investments and
having to sell off or not buy planes to replace those dollars. People...

GNS430 vs 480 vs 530 by
pgbnh
Your thoughts please on the relative value of the 430/480/530 units.
Is the 530 worth the extra $5000
Is the larger screen more legible
Does the different (different technology & more pixels)screen in the 530
really make a difference?
Is there real functionalitydifference between 430 and 530?
And...

Roll-based AP of same functionality as STEC-30 by
Andrew Gideon
I'm putting together a proposal for my club to replace TCs with electric AIs
over time. But for this to work, we need an autopilot that can connect to
the electric AI (therefo roll-based). I found a new Chelton that looks
quite nice, but is likely overkill (in terms of price and function) for...

Cirrus or Lancair? by
Matt Barrow
Contemplating a Lancair to downsize my six seater to a four seat.
Seems, though, that the Cirrus SR-22 is rather more popular than the
Columbia 350.
Can anyone shed some insights on these two side-by-side?
Thanks,

Ercoupe Opinions by
Doofus P. Leadbottom
I've got somewhat of a liking for Ercoupes and its derivitives. They seem
to be inexpensive to purchase, and somewhat cheap to fly and maintain. For
a fairly new pilot, who just want to fly for the fun of it, are they a good
bet?

Adjustment driver for King VOR head by
Robert M. Gary
My #2 VOR is the older analog King head feed by a KX-170B. It likes to
get out of adjustment. The local radio shop has told me I should get
the screw driver and adjust it myself off the VOT. If you remove the
set screw that holds the knob on, there is an adjustment screw behind
it. However, the...

Lange/Saratoga club seating by
John Doe
Has anyone spent any real time in the middle row of club seats like those in
the Lance or Saratoga?
I know most owners end up in the pilot seat, but I'm wondering how
comfortable those middle seats are, facing backwards and not being able to
recline at all?
Anyone ever complained on a long...

Narco DME 190 remote channeling kit by
[email protected]
Anyone out there have a remote channeling kit (#03312-0501) for a Narco
DME 190 they are willing to part with? If so email me and lets talk.
(It is the module that attaches to the back of the tray, not the
receiver)

Paint stripper damage by
[email protected]
I had my plane painted recently, he did a decent job except for
allowing his masking to slip on all windows and windscreen. This
allowed the stripper to damage (cloud) spots on the plexiglas.
It appears to have penetrated the plastic so the damage may be deep
rather than a surface problem.
Now -...

special issuance??? by
Tri-Pacer
Does a special issuance show up on the airman's registry web site?
A chap I know needs a special issuance for diabetes. I bought a plane from
him some years back and had been letting him fly it from time to time.
I got a bug and checked him out on the Airman's registry. There it said his

Would ~ 500 planes depress the U.S. used aircraft market? by
Dave S
IF this happened as described... (implemented fully), it would be a
buyers market.. and there would be a small niche for qualified ferry
pilots running the "plane pipeline"

Gann Movie "Island in the Sky" by
Paul kgyy
I just watched the DVD of Gann's movie (based on his book, based in
turn on an actual event) last night. I recommend it highly. It's a
good story, the B/W photography is superb, and the aviation element is
about as faithful as it gets. There's also a mini-biography which is
interesting as well...

Texas Taildraggers by

I'm looking to buy one. They are around, but the market is small
enough tat determining market value is difficult. Compared to a
similarly equipped, same-year unmodified 150, what should the price
difference be?
Ari.

Transmittion Noise - High Power Settings by
Paul Smedshammer
We recently upgraded the avionics and instrument panel, which was a great
improvement. However, I'm having a problem transmitting under high
power. I get a crackly static (during transmittion only) when over say
20" MP and 2500 RPM or 25" MP and 2200 RPM. At the start of the

A friend is helping with the reinstall of a KY97A used as a base

was wired as it was found. He reports that the unit is wired through
an edge connector (standard aircraft rack mount - Bendix King).
Does anyone have access to this...

Part 91 instruction and TBO by
Doug
I am quite sure that one can offer an aircraft for hire with an
instructor under part 91 with an engine that has gone beyond TBO.
However, someone I know called the FSDO in California and asked, and I
was astounded when he was told that they told him if he was going to do
instruction for hire the...
