Odd VSI behavior at higher altitudes by
Nathan Young
I have a PA28-180. Whenever the winds allow, I like to fly at high
altitudes. On my last few flights, I have noticed that the VSI tends
to show a slight descent when I am at high altitude. The altimeter
will stay constant/steady (as does my Mode C readout). The VSI does
not exhibit this...

Updated Oshkosh Frequencies by
RST Engineering
I just had an email from a feller that used my Oshkosh frequency list and he
said:
133.85 and 126.6 both seem to be used by the Warbirds Airboss. Those
will let you know when explosions are coming.
If anybody has any more updates, I'm ready to take them and refresh the
list.

O-360 takeoff power fuel flow question by
argon39
Hello
I'm looking for real-world data on full-rich, full-throttle takeoff
power fuel flow for Lycoming O-360 engines.
I have a C-172K conversion (Lyc O-360-A1A, Hartzell c/s prop and
PowerFlow tuned exhaust). The POH supplementals for the conversion are
a bit terse, but indicate that takeoff fuel...

Cell phone headset adapter? by
Alan
Yes, I want to talk on my cell phone, listen to Flight Watch and
fiddle with the sectionals all at once! Well, maybe one at a time.
I've seen ads for these guys with prices ranging from $19.95 to $170.
Anyone have any experience with these and/or a recommendation?
Thanks.

Newbie question on relationships between TT, TBO and SMOH by
H.P.
If a plane (C172S) has 1600 TT but is at 250 hrs SMOH on an original engine
that's spec'd for 2000hrs TBO, does this mean that the engine went in for
overhaul prematurely? For what possible reason and how would I find out?

Leaning using EGT - Lycoming O-540 (Aztec) by
Dean
On my first flight in the Aztec with a fellow pilot who was doing the
flying, he stated to lean using the EGT (a recently installed
Electronics International digital single probe device)to circa 1300 and
no higher than 1350.
The aircraft does not have a CHT.
I am totally new to operating larger...

Radial GA tires by
[email protected]
Is there anyone out there who is running on or has tried radial GA
tires? My question is in regard to rolling friction compared to
conventional ply. Notice any difference in take off roll, particularly
on rough fields? How about ground handling on landings?

Helio Courier vs Something Else by
Fisherman
Howdy!
I think the Helio Courier is just about the best back country airplane I've ever heard of but there are so few of them and the company seems to be taking it's sweet time getting them back into production. Is there anything out there that even compares to the Courier's specs and...

Mooney Low Voltage by
[email protected]
Can anybody help me diagnose this problem? Just bought my new (to me)
1978 Mooney 201, flew it back from Kansas City to Atlanta, no problem.
Flew to Richmond, VA - again no problem. Leaving RIC for Atlanta, the
low voltage light started flashing. Didn't want to carry on IFR so
stopped into...

Lycoming O-540, "normal" CHT/EGT??? by
USA
Hello everyone, I finally installed an EDM700 on my '68 235C. What a big
change in the way I operate now.
Can I get some feedback from you O-540 drivers on what you have seen
as "normal" in EGT & CHT? I am specifically interested in knowing
about those at your run-up, on climb out, at cruise, and...

$4.04 per gallon at Hilton Head by
Guy Byars
Just tanked up at Hilton Head SC. They charged me $3.85 per gallon of
100LL, and then added on a 5% "fuel tax". Works out to $4.04 per gallon.
Ouch, a new high.
Now that I am back home, I am going to top off with mogas... $2.10 seems
cheap now.

Maule Driver
Anybody want to tell me why I shouldn't do it?
Actually I'd welcome hearing about what anyone at Oshkosh has to say
about what they see and hear.
I can't wait, Christmas in August - Cheap ******* on 'roids (and with a

Scientific Data on Engine Operations by
O. Sami Saydjari
This is actually a split off from the "Rotating Injectors Among
Cylinders" thread. I prefer not to distract that thread any.
I must say that I find the evidence presented in support on LOP to be
uncompelling. Although it is certainly appealing at the gut level, it
is a far cry from scientific...
