Twin nose protection by
Jim Burns
Does anybody know a company that makes nose protectors for twins to protect
them from getting beat up by ice slung against the nose by the props? I've
seen rubber strips (ugly) and heard of fiberglass and aluminum panels that
can be painted, but I can't find a thing on the web.
I see the AOPA...

Oil leak by
Gene Seibel
I have a 1966 Cherokee 180 with fixed pitch prop. I have noticed some
oil streaks on the back plate of the prop spinner, apparently seeping
out between the prop and flywheel. Anyone have an expereince with this?
Is there a plug in the front the hollow (I assume) crankshaft that
could be leaking? Is...

Aircraft storage by
#1ACGuy
How long can an aircraft sit unused before the fuel gums up and contaminates
the fuel system?
For instance, if I leave a motorcycle sit too long without a fuel stabilizer
added to the gas, the gas goes bad after a few months and gums up the carbs.
The entire fuel system is affected after a while....

Normal voltage drop by
Robert M. Gary
When I turn on a lot of accessories on my Mooney F '76 I can drop the
bus voltage down to around 13.6. My A&P says 13.6 is normal with
accessories on. Does this sound right?

Cost of ownership question by
Slip'er
I am going to put a lot of constraints on this question, bear with me. How
much does the size of the engine and airframe contribute to cost of
ownership? I am looking at buying a plane as are many of us. I am stuck in
the infinite loop of, well if I spend an extra $5K I can get this...but...

Genealogy of Piper Aircraft by
Mike Granby
Our FBO has a poster on the wall entitled "A Genealogy of Piper
Aircraft" or something similar. It shows the various lines of aircraft
(PA-28, PA-32 etc) and the various models in that line. I've been
trying to find a copy without success. While a quick trip to the color
photocopies with the FBO's...

Christmas Annual - long drivel by
Denny
Fat Albert the Apache needed his annual exam... When I bought him the
annual was in the summer and I have been gaining a month a year on
that... This year we moved it into December 1st... The annual usually
takes 3-5 days, but this morning he still sits in the shop with the
starboard engine...

Cold wx starting quirks by
Jim Rosinski
Usually the carbureted Lycoming O-320 in my Skyhawk is easy to start.
But when it gets cold (below freezing), often the first crank yields
nothing. Not even a hint of a kick regardless of how long the starter
is engaged. Doesn't matter how many shots of prime are in there either
(in cold weather...
