Avionics Cooling Fan by
Ross
Does anyone have a working 14Vdc cooling fan that they would like to
part with cheaply. This will be for a non-aviation use. Contact me at
ross.richardson at raytheon dot com. Let me know how much. Thanks.

KX-99 antenna BNC loose by
[email protected]
The BNC connector on the top of my KX-99 has become very slightly
loose. Does anyone know how dangerous it is to open the case up and
try to tighten it? I assume it has a nut of some sort. I just don't
know how much has to be removed to get to it.
The radio has been great. It has worked...

Prop Balance and Murphy by
Denny
WIth 4 hours on the fresh top overhaul I decided it was time to
balance the prop as we removed the weights when sending the props out
for new studs...
I was delayed a bit at my monthly meeting down in Grand Blanc and got
back to the airport at a quarter to one... The Kid was chomping at the
bit......

Former FAA aviation safety inspector thoughts by
[email protected]
The point of Standy by Vac & electrical is very valid! I have
investigated many IFR accidents with no indication as to WHY!
No radio calls no nothing!
On site investigations show the engine(s) making plenty of power
trees with prop gashes in them so we know that the aircraft had
engine ...

LED Light Strips? by
JB
Has anyone put a set of LED strips under the glareshield? They are
usually 12v, dimmable, and relatively cheap. Our 79 Warrior has
crappy panel lighting and thought putting up a length of red LEDs
strips with some sticky tape and plugging in with cig/power adapter
would be an easy way to light up...

Noise Problem. Both Comms Breaking Squelch by
Lancair IV-P Flyer
Would anyone have an idea about the cause of this?
Problem:
Intermittent noise (sounds just like a squelch volume test) on both
communication radios. Lasts from 15 seconds to two minutes. Will
occur at any RPM including idle. Changing frequencies eliminates the
noise but the noise can and most...

Got *that* call today... by
Doug Vetter
Well, the 172 went into annual this Monday. Only 35 hours on the clock
this year (criminal, I know). But I rationalized that number by figuring
there wouldn't be any surprises this week. Hehe. Boy was I wrong.
Yea, I knew going in that we'd have to pull the prop because our hub got
caught...

AGM Batteries by
Dave Anderer
Any current thoughts on AGM batteries?
I tried a Concorde 35AXC about 8 years ago. It lasted about 30 months
for me. Wet batteries seem to last around 4 years.
However, there was some corrosion damage from the wet battery last
annual, and so I'm rethinking the AGM option. I might be willing...

Club insurance? by
Robert Barker
It's that time of year again. It's time for our club to renew it's
insurance. We're currently with AVEMCO but want to try to find something
less expensive. They also impose a limit on the # of members we can have
per airplane and would like to get out from under that restriction. Any...
