Aluminum panels by
Dico
Hello,
Can someone please direct me to some companies that make the aluminum
(i think its aluminum) panels? Do you call these companies and tell
them what type of plane you have and there is a standard panel size...
then let them know what size holes you want? Or is this something that
you take...

Avgas Where is the ceiling? by
Doug Palmer
100 LL just jumped from $3.82 to $4.54 at our airport, and at HAF we
traditionally represent the lower costs for our area (SF Bay) Where will it
end? to the pessimists in the room this feels like the begning of the end
for those of us who pinch our pennies to get a little air time in once...

Charging System Gremlin by
[email protected]
I have a vexing problem on my 1979 Warrior. The charging system will
shut down in flight at random times. The ammeter drops to 0 and the
idiot light comes on. A recycling of the ALT switch may stop the
problem but it may happen several more times before "settling down".
There is NO pattern to...

Higher Cost at Annual:newer ('97-'00) 172R/SP or 1970's 172? by
XrayYankee
Trying to judge which will be more expensive at annual. A newer 172R or S, or going very used, back to a 172M or N 1974-1979 era. Are there a lot more potential pitfalls and expenses that will continue to add up each year at annual for spending less up front to get an older 172? I assume parts...

GA flying in Southhampton, UK? by
xyzzy
I will be in Southhampton on business in June with a couple of free
days, one thing I like to do when that happens is rent a plane and
instructor at a local FBO for sightseeing flight. I've been able to
find those types of resources easily in the U.S. with airnav.com. Is
there a similar resoruce...

Fuel Prices and their Effect on Your Flying by
Jon Kraus
I did some checking around my area today (thanks www.100ll.com) about
what the fuel prices are, and was surprised to learn that my home base
(KTYQ) is charging $4.47 (the highest in the area), and that includes
our based-on-the-field discount. That is up around $1.00 from a little
over a year ago...

Adding as US endorsement to your Canadian license... by
Dico
Hello,
I'm going through the paperwork to get a US "endorsement" (for lack of
a better word) on my Canadian license so that I can fly N# aircraft. I
understand that I need this paperwork done to legally fly an N#
airplane.
Has anyone gone through this and can point me in the proper...

Piper Cherokee wing root seals - just an fyi by
Bob Noel
In the past I've seen people wondering why it was so hard to install new wing
root seals on cherokees. Well, today my mechanic did the job in just about two
hours. No doubt it helped that he's done it before.

Avionics Build It Yourself Manuals by
RST Engineering
So for 35 years now we've been putting out our kits with two printed manuals
per kit ... a
"operations and maintenance" and a "construction and assembly" manual. Each
of which costs us about $2 a manual. Not a big deal.
I've got a wild hair that we can put out a digital CDROM set of manuals...

Jacks by
Dico
Hello,
Our mechanic suggested we buy a set of jack for our plane with another
couple of people at the airport. Can anyone recommend or direct me to
what I should be getting? We have a Twin Comanche and the other plane
is Baron 55.
Thanks,

Hello,
Can anyone recommend a good tug for a Twin Comanche? I see there are
some companies out there that make them... but if anyone has their
personal experience they want to share, i'd like to hear it... if you
can provide a link to their website it would be even better!

Read an exciting, intelectual Novel after flight? by
The Masconi's a Novel
If you own your own airplane then what I am saying below about a major
airline ride does not apply!
Therefore, if you are an independent plan owner or like to fly in smaller
plane's, what might be a good idea is to get your hands on R.H. Tuttle Jr.'s
new epic Novel, "The Masconi's", to read after...

RCA in for MX20 or other MFDs by
Dico
Hi There,
I'm wondering if the MX20 or other MFDs have the capability to output a
signal from a line-in, like a DVD player or what have you.
It would be ideal to have the RCA (the red, white, yellow) inputs on
the front of your panel and just plug in an IPOD video and then
watch/listen to...
